in his mind:

joymax is an evil corp who is paid by gold bots. by allowing gold bots to run free on the silkroad, joymax makes lots of money. they then use this money to pay large hairy men to ass rape legits on all servers. one of these men is the guy who shot kennedy. yes, thats right! the assasination of kennedy was needed in order for joymax to grow strong enough to change there ToS to allow bots. you see, kennedy was a legit who hated gold bots! GRRRR /insert mean face :x . now that kennedy is out of the way, only chuck noris with the help of his sidekick jacki chan can save the day. but wait! that bastard jacki chan is a dubble agent who really works for joymax and is sleeping with chucks wife! THAT BASTARD!

like sand thru the hourglass, so are the days of our lives....

JM even acknowledged the change in TOS FFS. besides, no where in there does it define "illegal" programs.

Wait. So you're saying that JM's announced bot ban is unauthorized because their TOS now allows botting? Does this seem upside down to anyone else?

NO, what I'm saying is, because the TOS and User Agreements mention nothing about "bots" or define what "illegal programs" are (they used to define this and be more explicit), JM has given itself an out in that they can't be held liable by customers for screwing up the gaming experience since it's not defined. What they CAN do, is lie to their customers about banning bots (which apparently is not NOT illegal based on TOS) and make us think they are banning, when what they are most likely doing is removing accounts that have been inactive and certain goldbots. I think it's a ruse.

Does it matter what does or doesnt violate the terms of service? Joymax wont ban player botters and everyone here knows it, even if they refuse to admit, they know that in the end the bot ban is going to be a big disapointment and then they will move on with their sro life and get over it like every other bot ban.

I agree, but it does matter when people fool themselves into thinking they will ban

I agree with you. If you listened to what JM has said in the past, they've made it clear that this is a player's problem, not the company's problem. I disagree with them but I think the attitude reflects many things, some cultural. The world is filled with people who won't do the right thing unless forced to. JoyMax doesn't want to be police. They want to be computer game makers.

Two things have happened to let them know that players are making changes and want to get rid of botters: the legit dominance of Venus and the banning of botters on this forum. That sent a signal to JoyMax that we (or at least some of us) are going to try and solve this problem. They'll help out too.

I also expect them to have a greater GM presence in those servers with proportionately larger legit populations. We'll see.

Ive been doing a happy dance all night and day because of this. LOL

Instead of laying down and taking it, or even worse; JOINING IT, we got the legits together and did something about it.... and maybe, just maybe, they saw it. It could be a strange coincidence...

Answer to Thread Title - People either make new characters, wait for another server to open and make new characters, or Quit.

Lock thread now plz...

I like the sound of that Quit option... :) Then they can FINALLY combine all the servers, like in kSRO.

If they just wiped all gold bots and cut a few servers they could probably still get a lot of people buying Premiums because of small servers...

If they banned bots from the beginning, they would have 5x the normal players, and about 8 servers. Those servers would be 3500/3500. Not like our packed servers, but REAL servers, with 100 people at south gate at one time. Compared to the sro now, you could never imagine it. 60 cap came close, but still wasnt there. Too bad theres so many new bots that never played the 60 cap, didnt know how SRO was back there, so they continue to mess up the game...

I have to say that the banning of bots is not something that JM like to do simply because it does actualy take alot of work for them to do.. I mean they have to cross reference hundreds if not thousands of IGN with accounts and then double check them all. I t probably takes a long ass time to do especialy taking into account that they arent a large company. I think is is the reason why we dont get the weekly or monthly bot bans anymore simply because it takes so much time to complete.

The reason for the ban is not known by anybody you can stipulate reasons but its more than likley a simple coincidence, I mean they have probably been working on the list for a long time taking into consideration the last big bot ban was around the time of the Euro update.

I would be more interested in the thinking that a big update might be in the offering sooner than we though, they do tend to do a large ban before an update... and we all know 90 cap is due in the next couple of months.

They won't ban player bots.

SRO = 30mil registered users. Let's say 20mil buy silk.
20mil people, charging back an avg of $200 = 100,000 instantly taken from the company. (I know several people who have spent well over $1k, so the number's just a rough estimate.)
JM has around 200 employees totaled.

They'd go bankrupt before long, resulting in no SRo.

Yeah, the game REALLY went bankrupt at the 60 cap. Everyone was legit, everyone bought silk, everyone was happy.

This is like global warming conspiracies. Yes, the world is getting warmer. No, the world wont implode because of it...

So if they chargeback $100,000, what does that leave them with? Probably still over $2M. $100,000 is not a huge loss if you have over $2M

As for the discussion of an illegal program, in the case of Silkroad Online you could define an illegal program as an unauthorised edit of the official client or a 3rd party program which directly interacts with the client. Aka, client which allow botting and bot help programs. This is not hard to see, it's merely common sense.

rofl... Don't take the 30mil registered users to mean that many people play. I'd be surprised if even 500k play this game.

MrFudge is right, but he put the numbers wrong I think. They would lose well over $2M..

They could decide to make few moderated servers and leave the rest be as they are (or choose few existing servers). Moderating a few servers shouldn't be that hard, even for Joymax. That way they could also continue sucking money from both botters and legits.

That's because u count also gold bots and those who multiclient 40 clients...

But I still not understand how chargeback work. U can chargeback smt that u buy 3-4 months ago or what?

lol @ 30 mill number. 99.999% of them are gold bots.

Image

id say around 150k REAL players are regestered for silkroad, less then 20k active at any given time with anywhere from 500k - 2 million active gold bots. add in all inactive gold bots + inactive player accounts over a period of 3 years, and thats where the 30 mill comes from.

now with that said, you can only chargeback on paypal up to 45 days of the purchase.

ban every single whiny botter, and you will lose around 18k players worth of income for a period of 2 months if ALL the bots chargeback. wont happen. kids dont chargeback. majority of sro botters are kids.

average silk spent by a player is $20 on a prem per month. thats $40 for every bot banned. banning all active bots wont hurt them 1 bit. they make back the money 2 months later...

Exactly one of the many reasons why JoyMax wont ban Player-Bots lol.
