Christian Bashing and nominations to the x-ian version of the Darwin Awards
After reading a forum called After Death - My Theory, I've come to a conclusion. There is a basic misunderstanding about what God says concerning life after death. Seems like people who say they don’t believe in God say so because they don’t understand that God was talking to His children (so called) when He spoke of damnation.
There are people who make their boast in God. They know His will. They approve things that are excellent and are instructed in the law. They know all the commandments and can preach about everything that is called “right and wrong”. They are confident that they are a guide to the blind and a light to those in darkness. They instruct the foolish and teach the newbs, but they have only the appearance of knowledge about the truth and the law.
The Bible asks these people, “You! You, who teach another, do you teach yourself?? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? You who say, ‘Do not commit adultery', do you commit adultery?"
The Name of God is blasphemed among the unsaved because of these. "Christian Bashing" is for the most part deserved. Read the Bible enough and you'll see that God does it a lot. Calling His children "stubborn, stiffed necked, rebellious and hypocrites" isn't really "Christian Bashing" though, it is simply the truth. Seems to me that we "Christians" can choose to heed His warning or continue in our own ways. In either case we will get what we deserve.
Do you see everyday examples of "x-ian' Darwin Awards?
Huh? I didn't say that I have not searched; the discussion you quoted is about Science vs. Faith called Faith - False or?, and I've seen it previously. I'm as confused by your reply as I was by your initial comment.
Ohhhh.... wait... Now I see, you searched and quoted your search on "RELIGION". I did read through the postings and note your statements about religion being the basis of morality, are you certain this applies to this particular discussion? Frankly, I'm not.

Spoiler!
I also noticed one of your questions in that thread that wasn't answered,

anyone know what the name of the theory is in which God designed life to evolve according to its environment?
Perhaps you were trying to reference what is called in theistic circles as "The Day / Yom Theory"? Essentially, the Hebrew word in Genesis translated "Day", as in "And the morning and the evening were the 3rd Day", doesn't forcefully demand a series of six (5) specific, uniform, continuous 24 hour periods, because theists who are also fundamentalists do not necessarily believe that 'everything has continued as it is seen today from the very beginning'. (see 2 Peter 3:3-7)
More likely your question is in reference to what can be called "The Divine Inspiration" theory, yes? It has to do with a Creationist argument about "Old Earth" vs. "New Earth" while they wonder about and attempt to prove the question, "Is the earth thousands or billions of years old"
On a more personal note, one cannot properly argue from what 'ought' to what 'is'.
My best answer to the specific question about Time & G-d or general time questions like Time & Age of the Universe or Time and Evolution (or what Time do you get off work, cutie?) questions is, 'Duh, I dunno,' because that answer alone introduces the least amount of complications.
Greetings, Blackdragon6 I like your comment (kinda) - nope... I like it But it makes me dizzy...
It does advance a complex question that is founded upon an questionable assumption about people of faith who share Abrahamic origins to which all the answers appear to support that assumption. Very nice! I'm betting it was a male blond who was responsible or at least partly responsible as the 'mother of this invention'.
We're now basically offending more than ½ the world population, roughly 3.8 billion per WIKIpedia but the pic/poster closes the gap even more if we include Science Fiction enthusiasts or Haitian religions or 'Trekies' (some telepaths can communicate by touch such as 'Vulcans') and all legitimate cannibals... Funny world, ain't it?
SACRILEGIOUS? Yes, but... My considered opinion is that after discounting "shock value", this isn't really all that much worse than adding a beard and mustache to a rendition of a female Caucasian model with a beatific La Gioconda-like smile then making a bumper-sticker out of it for propaganda purposes, is it?
All in all, I'd give your post: 1 amputated thumbs up! N'est-ce pas?
The prayer of the friend: "Turn our Hearts O LORD." Move the hearts of the Fathers to the Children and the hearts of the Children to the Fathers. Heal this land."
Every once in awhile I feel like Christian Bashing!
Of course I do it in my own imitable way - and remembered this thread from long ago when I wanted to elect certain "X-ians" for the Darwin Awards. Today, I'm wondering if anybody wants to know the secret to make "X-ians" shut the hell up. Here you go: (of course this must be addressed to the ones that really know their bible)
First, interrupt their preaching and ask them if they know that "No Scripture is of private interpretation." (They will of course answer in the affirmative, but you've spoken to them in X-ian code, so they won't expect what's coming).
Then: Ask (and ignore their patronizing glances) if they also understand that all Scripture can only be understood through His Spirit.
Spoiler!
Then drive home your point - that if Scripture isn't of "Private Interpretation" and spoken so cryptically that "we" (His 'special friends') are the ONLY ones who are able to know what He means --- AND --- if He said that only His Spiritual allies can understand Him - then how come finding the right way to speak about spiritual matters and about Him isn't difficult, nay - impossible?
Guaranteed way of getting Xians to shut up or at least ignore you or start sputtering stuff with no meaning. The implication is that everybody who talks the talk also walks the walk and we all (even Christians) know that isn't true. Faced with that type of dilemma they have to shut up, right? Well, maybe not all - but those who possess any logic will know that if the premises are true and if they forcefully lead to only one conclusion, the conclusion is also true.
In other words, God made it so that fakers could not speak His word, didn't He? If that is the case, how come they are making so much noise Ooops - I made a slight mistake. Only real Christians will shut up (and think about what you said) the ones that totally dismiss you (or start sputtering nonsense) are either not listening or the X-ians - there is no earthly method (that I know of) that can control their tongue. (oops, did I just say that?)
~Granps (Oh, in case you're new to the forums - I'm a Christian, actually a Fundamentalist of sorts, so don't flame me for being anti-semantic) and yes, I spelled (or misspelled) that correctly.
