college i studied 3d max and autocad we were taught both how to use it as 2d first then using that expand into 3d, like laying out the foundations then building upwards with deadly accuracy but all im saying in its latest versions it is not 2d based infact you start it up in its 3d screen

also maya and 3d max are both moddling programs, you forgot to add blender which is a pretty big freebie
