What time does this game take place in early A.D period?
Maybe this is suppose to symbolize the war of the different races. Since the europeans *messiah* has been killed they have to battle the chinese and islams. basically everybody new this game had to do something with religion since it had to do with the three biggest civilizations of all time.

To be honest, in the world we live in, if you are religious, you have to come to terms with the fact that there are those who are not and at the same time learn to not assume that what these non-religious people do is not out of malice, but instead your own ignorance to the fact that the entire world is of multi-religious belief. Crucifixions are a part of world history, not Christian. Fact.
The Swastika and similar things are an entirely different matter though...
