Free hosting also has low bandwidth, which is something a site as popular as Konpaku doesn't need.

Sorry to see you go Konpaku, now we have to get the PK2 data ourselves instead of looking on your site. ^^ LOL Ill miss ya. Stfu Nightbloom. Firefox was simply suggesting that he could use free hosting. But no, instead, konpaku wants money off people. Probably so he can find the cheapest host he possibly can, then spend the rest of the money on himself. If he really wanted to get his site back up, he could use free hosting. I know of one (x10 Hosting) that gives you shitloads of free space, and everything else that a paid host would give, and all they require is a link back. It isnt Firefox thats being the douchebag here night, its you. no need to be fighting over it, hosting is cheap, thats my point. if he went and got a part time job or even cut a few lawns or something like that for a few bucks he would be set for a whole year. it don't cost that much to host a site and i would love to see what kind of bandwidth he uses. there maybe 1000 people going to his site a day. even still thats not much at all. if he stores large files open for download then thats more of a problem.. but a few asp pages thats nothing even viewed by 1000 people a day. if he needs help finding a free host that can fit his needs he knows how to or i can help he out if he pms me. even with a free host, if he sticks up some google ads or something he can make a few bucks for hosting(thats all i do). want to see how cheap it really is to host a site. https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/shared.asp? Economy Plan Plan Features • 5 GB NOW 10 GB Space • 250 GB NOW 300 GB Transfer • 100 Email Accounts • FREE! Software • 10 MySQL Databases • 50 Email Forwards $4.40/mo CAD thats what 2 cups of coffee. i am not hating on him i am just trying to help him but he seems unwilling

SRA was on free hosting and it lasted all of 34 days. That when it was pretty much just a guildsite. If your site is even remotely popular you will eat up that sliver of bandwidth in a jiffy.
Free hosting is good for weekend project fantsites, guildsites, pics of your dog and imaginary girlfriend. It is NOT good for a serious website. You get what you pay for and freebie sites are worth what you pay.

Actually no one had the info he had. Point out a single site that has it besides the SilkRoad Addiction Wiki. Dark Ashlin had to get Cruor to give her the files so she could enter it all cause we couldnt find the information anywhere else.

Why do you think we are talking about your site? I though we were talking about Konpaku....
All I gotta say is, MMOSITE is like McMMO. Sure you can go to McDonalds for cardboard burgers and rubber fries, but do you really want to? There are many sites out there that do it better, prettier and with more originality.
Ask Gul of Nivlam what he thinks about MMOSITE. ^^
Anyways, I digress. I hope ppl help Konpaku stay alive. There is room for everyone and he had his niche and had it well.

Now, who are you to question him? Does he need to explain to you why he cant get a job or pay for hosting? And give me a break with that job thing. I bet thats your first real job and you're mother is so proud of you. Everyone should get a job like you ehhh? WOW, you work for IT, that must be so cool. Konpaku has all the rights to ASK for donations. The site, only on this forums, has been used as reference hundreds of times and has had the most correct, well organized, current and future updates. Pretty simple...if you liked the site, you may want to contribute, your choice. You dont want to contribute? Then shut up and GTFO this thread, you're of no use.

Seriously STFU and GTFO. Yes all that hard work he put into his website. Now he is after your money because he wants it really bad. Do you Farking hear yourself? People like you make me want to kill myself. Stupidity and ignorance is the worst qualities I see in people and you are showing both. But then again ignorance can be confused with stupidity. He has said exactly how much free space he needs and no free hosting website gives him that kind of room. Did you bother reading the whole thing or do you like to skip to the end like most people. Just quote something last said to show that you read the whole thing? Leave the guy alone. I admire his work and his effort he has put into building that forum. If it was that freakin simple that why the hell cant you do it? first time i agree with u Rogue. i pity the ppl who said he wants ur money for his own needs and not for the site. to Konpaku: Thank you for the great website. It really helped me when i ws trying to find which mobs to fight . i hope one day u will be able to get the website up again . to nb: i dont know why, but SRA loads sooo slow for me. usually srf loads in like 2 seconds after i click on it. SRA takes like 10 seconds O.o. is it a bug?

But I gave up after digging through the file for like five hours. The way Joymax organized the monster data is disgusting. It gave me headaches just trying to see what referenced what. So... I gave up and decided to let someone else do the hard work I don't know how much traffic Konpaku received, but he had quite a few images on that site. The images alone could have eaten a lot of bandwidth. I don't know if that's really what happened since I'm just speculating. Those cheap hosting sites that advertise "300GB" don't really mean you get all that bandwidth. Soon as you start eating away at that number, they'll flag you and probably disable your account for "excessive resource usage". The term is called overselling. Its actually happened to nivlam.com about a year ago. Donations are kind of iffy. SRA and alike-sites probably gets plenty of donations since they have a solid user base. But for sites like Konpaku and nivlam, we don't really have a forum so we don't have "regular" visitors. Since I put up the Paypal donate button a few months ago, I've received SIX dollars in donations. However, I get a few hundred dollars from ads every 3~4 months and I sure as hell don't need all of that to pay for my hosting bill ($250 for hosting/yr). I have no problem using that money gained for personal use. Some people might disagree, but I don't really care. I'm sure Konpaku and alike-sites have spent a lot of personal time developing those sites to benefit people. I know I've spent a ton of time developing nivlam.com and I don't even play Silkroad anymore. Money gained is a benefit and I enjoy every penny of it. </rant>

When I ask for donations for something specific, I receive them. Other than that, all our income is off of ads as well tho nowhere near as much as you get Gul. H4X!
Building a site takes a certain kind of person. You gotta WANT to regardless of if it makes money or not really. Most of SRA is "Hey I wonder if this will work" or "What will this look like?" or "Wouldnt it be cool if..".
I hope Konpaku gets his sie back up.

I'd like to cut in here with a word of advice for Konpaku: Just stick some ads at the bottom of the page, Konpaku was a very good source and I'm sure I'm not the only one who used it, so you should make some good money off of ads. I would have donated, but I have no money either You could also get rid of the images, but frankly, I like them, so it'd be cool if they were kept Being able to see what future icons will look like is always great.

Hey, As stated above, cant you run it on free server for a bit of time running some ads and such, and eventually move on to a paid server when u get donatoins.? people will pay for the service as they realise that loading is alot slower on a free host
