why dont u find out how much the parry is reduced? get someone to see what their max parry is than give them electric shock status.. i guess the parry reduce is applied to the damage of the initial hit that creates it than?

woah that was immature.
ahem,
I'm guessing that the parry reducing has a LOT to do with the "higher" damage which the post speaks of. It would be more interesting if someone presented more data on the subject.

I think the general idea is that if you're going to one hit nuke something, fire is your best shot. Once the shock effect kicks in however (PvP, giants, etc.) the lightning does more damage. Best results would of course be fire after the shock has kicked in.

a lot of better posters are replied already....
1. lightning does more damage ONLY when electric shock effect kicks in
2. fire does more damage regardless of status effect
the only resolution for lightning users is if/when Joymax will restrict Fire Shield to shield-users exclusively

25 % chance that you get the effect. He must nuke multiple times b4 you get effect and then u can pill it away
Lightning mbue only work on mobs. They can't pill.
And yup, PuRe. If your not immune to anything at cap your an amazing nap.

He's right though.
Anyway, conclusion is that FIRE does more damage to someone who's immune to lighting&fire. kthnx

If you're only hitting a couple of times (eg nuker), fire is far and away the best force. If you're going to be hitting more often, (eg str) lightning does less damage until the effect takes hold. However, since a str user is most likely maxing fire anyway for the buffs, it's still a tossup. That said, once everyone at high lvls is immune to all 3 forces, fire is the best, hands down. Right in a logical sense. But completely wrong on the battlefield. As I said, it was the clear decision to go with fire. But it does MUCH less than the lightning imbue. I thoroughly tested both before I purchased more skill re-allocation potions. SSS and Ghost spear did less with fire, and so did nukes. VERY noticable. That decrease in parry ratio must be huge, it definitely makes a difference.
It's 50% parry reduce, VERY VERY noticeable.

but does this shock come on the initial hit?
or does it only register on the hits after the one where the enemy was shocked?

I want to know where the hell you got those numbers.
Light avg dmg = 397.5
Fire avg dmg = 467.5
Avg difference = 70
My avg magic attack = 1800
Percent atk that it matters = 3.9% extra dmg with fire imbue.
Avg magic attack of hypothetical lvl90 = 3500 (hyothetically)
Percent atk that it matters = 2%
Increase from FPF = 1%
Final difference = 1% extra dmg with fire imbue. (On a well planned int with weapon skills)
*And yes, the imbue damage is added, not amplified. Do a weapon skill without imbue and you'll see what I mean.

Amen brother. Down with useless posts like "lol " or "shut up " or "sux!"... you get the idea. If you wanna post, you better post something worthwile.
Back on topic: I think the general consensus is that fire > lightning in short fights, while lightning > fire in long fights (giants, uniquest) because of the insane parry reduction. But is burn really pointless? I heard at high lvls it can burn for over hundreds of dmg.
