a 5:1 str would have higher phys. def, higher crits, and higher regular damage
a 3:1 str would have higher mag. def, lower crits but higher imbue damage
also a 5:1 would have more hp than a 3:1 who would have more mp

It depends on your class, while bladers will see a small gap in the damage, bowers that go 3:1 will have a noticeable higher damage then a 5:1 since bow has high magic attack on it while glavie\blade has a big gap between damage at mag. and phy.

Recomandation:

5:1 STR hybrid blade:
90 fire
90 bicheon
72 ice
48 light.

High cold to compensate for the loss of defense (because you have less STR and HP than a pure STR). Also, you can use a higher book snow shield than a pure STR can.

Is there a guide for this one?

There isn't, but you can take any full STR blade guide and adapt it to this build. Just change from the classical fire/light build to the build listed above. Simple as that, really :)

Whatever you take blade is the slowest build to level up. It takes a time before you kill a mob, you will loose lots of kills to KS'ing bots and taxi drivers, and the build has a lot of skills to learn, more than a bow or glavie and you will have to farm a lot for that build. So before you start one be sure that you will have the patience to level the build up and enough chillness to not get frustrated by the continuous KS'ing. I would suggest a very long farming (more than a month) in a very early stage in a place without bots (the tombs, stronghold, or a 9 gap since start till you have a couple of 100 k, depends of your server).
I started myself my blader as STR bow for the farming and switched to blade later with the help of the cursed heart quests.

Female bladers in protector are so smexy.

Hmm, this has nothing to do with the original question ^^
