So here's a quick summary of what I've Seen.

My first character, came back from a seminar and my friends told me about SRO. I figured eh, why not. Got on, was hooked. Jangan was so huge and awesome. Crowded with stalls. I filled up my friends list within days. IRL friends helped me out and i started on my second character after realizing a hybrid str nuker was NOT that strong :P. Only lvl 16. My 2nd and main character. Re-filled my friend's list. Started grinding together. We made pt to explore the caves, bandit hideout, and the lvl 30 "boss". Did our first trade/hunter run when we all hit lvl 20-22. Raped by ghost bugs XD. Time went on, friends left from boredom and bots, made a guild, met a uni. Etc.

Flash forward to before Euro update. My gf started playing. Man bots everywhere, but we found some actual ppl in Jangan still. Some lvl 30 came up to my gf and started ksing her. I told her to stop or i'd ks the shit out of everything. (she had to 2-hit chakjis to kill em). She and her friend laughed cuz i was wearing a 2nd deg suit :P. I asked her to pvp me than. She agreed to and put on a cape. I did too. She started attacking, i dashed a little and swapped garms. Her dmg suddenly dropped to 100, and i 1-hit her with a lion shout. We all laughed and she agreed to stop ksing my gf.

Now. I ran around jangan... Not a single soul hand-grinding. Only a few gold bots. I think powerlvling took away alot more than it gave. Yeah we can make 2nd characters and fully farm them with ong powerlvl, but what did we lose? A whole new generation of newbies. I can't imagine starting the game now and keep on playing. I mean not a single soul in a newbie city. Can't ask for help or anything... Unless you already knew someone in the game, odds are no one would start this game. IMO

On a lighter note, I already posted this in ALPS, but no replies. Lvl 74 looking for pvp with anyone 72-78, maybe 80 if you don't 1-hit me. if you are using 8d, you can have suns, sox, whatever. IF you are 76+... no suns pls.... it's not really a pvp if you 1-hit someone... that's just raping :banghead:

Also, anyone noticed a trend with turning in boxes for suit? Almost half of my friends that got a suit got them in Jangan. Anyone else?

Mmmm, you are bringing back some good memories. When the people around you actually were people. Shame on those who betray(ed) this game and its players.

I've got all my suits in Hotan, so don't really think it matters where you turn them in.

Not really. Maybe at 70 cap it wasnt that hard to get caped and fully farmed but if you want a fresh start nowadays its extremely hard, especially chinese race.

I made a new char today I was just bored of nuking with my wizzard and wanted to take a bit of a break. I popped up in constanz, didn't have the time to talk to the guide there, someone asked hey do you want to join my party I'll level you up till level 10. He gave me a 16 +2 shield and all the stuff that could suit me in my build during the grinding and asked nothing in return, just a bit of company and friendly chatting. I have to say that he kicked all AFK players directly out of his party. He left me when I got my level, I saw him back later doing the same stuff with other players. He's in my friend list of course.

But somehow it made me sad, because when I started on SRO I had the same approach and mentality, and I'm wondering if it's only the game that changed but perhaps the player changed too?

OnT: i think powerleveling totaly ruined sro.. i've hated it since the beginning. I do like the event though.. not just because of the boxes, but so many ppl want them that they start party grinding. In 10 minutes i got an entire cave party :D

usualy takes me more than an hour to get a half descent party.. love it now :D

this is way people get so much suits in jangan.
when you deliver suits in jangan you probably farmed boxes at the den or so.
Then you have like 100 boxes or so.

now if you just grinded you own lvl mobs you maybe got 33 boxes and then you deliver in hotan.
well then the chances of getting a suit in jangan is 3 times as big
but that is not because of the location

Wrong topic much?
Anyway - Ongs powerfarming is, in my opinion, faster way to get Jewel Boxes...
And I find more people at SM's Ongs than at JG's Bandit den...

But I have to agree - the location doesnt effect anything.

(3000 posts here ^^ :P )

well i only read the last line of the first post and it fit with that :P
but imo the den is faster, but that is maybe because im only lvl 49

Man I agree, a few years ago jangan was full with people everything was LIVE ... now you can only meet bots in jangan .. Someone who just started with this game would probably think that this game is death :D

Each server have 3500 slots, I would say 2000 of those are filled with bots .

Silkroad really needs to do something against this....

the european expansion which made power-leveling more prevalent to everyone DID in-fact KILL silkroad as we knew it. the euro expansion had so much potential to make silkroad THE mmorpg to play. all joymax had to do was regulate the experience party members could receive from being in an exp share party.. (e.g. u get no exp from anyone more than 10 levels higher than u are if they are in ur party). THAT alone would have given silkroad great potential to give WoW & blizzard a run for their money. Power-Leveling INDEED in my opinion KILLED sikroad online.

Sorry, I disagree. Tuesday, ‎September ‎12, ‎2006 IS WHAT KILLED SILKROAD.

If you don't know what happened that day, two letters will explain it all, GG.

The day Game Gaurd stopped working is the day iSro officially died.

Not exactly true, Game Guard and any/all protection a game has can be removed/bypassed eventually.

A game tends to die when the people who run it stop caring about it...
Why are most p2u gaining new players everyday? The main reason is because they have GM's who actually do login and help other players out with their problems. This game started to slip from the moment Joymax started paying more attention to cash rather than to their customers.

Maybe I'm missing something here, I do not claim to understand the full course of decision making Joymax has gone through. But I do tend to think it would be beneficial to them in the long run if they ran their game the most beneficial way towards players.

Like Drew Benton had once posted here, it's a simple task for Joymax to setup measures to prevent botting. Why they have not done any of that is far over my head. Sure, Silkroad Online maybe a game where you have to grind a lot to get the required SP and to level up, but why should this be a problem? this can in no way be considered a just reason to bot. MMO's are supposed to be played together with other people, the main purpose being to socially interact in fantasy worlds[take the interaction part out and its just...dust in the wind].

To "newbies" the game in its current state(for isro) looks as hostile as ever, most eventually quit before they reach level 30's. This is already happening in all servers, its high time before players actually fade away completely, leaving only goldbots.

I have to say, I highly enjoyed Euro parties and grinding together with other people before I quit playing, such a shame to see a great game getting ruined by just because the company running it chooses to ignore the player unless they have silk to offer :p

Sorry about going a bit off-topic with my mini rant ^^

I agree with you but the death of game gaurd still marked the beginning of Gm inactivity and the gold bot revolution. None of this became very rampant until that last update.

And I also agree with the confusion of why Joymax has half assed on a game that could have made them far greater amount of income than they are making now.

The community (players) ruin the game. who runs the bots? players (companies=golbots)
who f** up the job system with endless immolation of unsuited clerics? players.
Take a look the Joymax most recent event, the one on the forum,,,its fill with spam...IMO the event itself is stupid but if you don't like it don't spam on it....when JM suddenly stops doing events every1 is bitching about it but when they do have events hardly any1 appreciates them.

of course Joymax itself plays a major role for the way the game is now.

exactly, dont blame powerleveling, dont blame botters, dont blame gold buyers... blame joymax beacuse they have thought all of this trought and put all of this elements toghether with a purpose... they figured the best way to get tons of money from this game is having a lot of high lvls... think about it, who is more probable to spend money in gold buying, premium, silk items, etc? a 8D-9D character or a 3D-4D one? :(

and so powerleveling came into existence... and coincidentaly with the release of a whole new race, and not only that, with places where party mobs spawn like ants on sugar (ongs and sungsung) so nobody even does lvl 1-40 quests anymore, they just breeze to 5D in a few p-levels.

I see your point, However

It's their game, we don't own any of it. They are the ones responsible for keeping it running smooth, not us. Every game has it's cheater, it's up to the admins to ensure fair play. Games always have unforeseen glitches like outside ressers or job switchers. Events... almost all the events suck. Either the drop rate was horribly low, or the event ended up with constant DC. JM doesn't really seem to be the company that spends it time thoroughly testing what they come up with. And instead of having the SAME idea for events : collect item, bring it back ><. They should try coming up with something new, like maybe have a boss spawn in random location every 2 hours. Or maybe have multiple bosses at every 10 lvl interval spawn randomly, and only ppl under that lvl can kill it. lvl 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, 85, 95. Alot of work? yes, but will be something players will truly enjoy.

In short, JM just needs to be revamped.

I just started a new character, and where it took me 5 months to hit 35, it just took me this event, 2 weeks, to be fully farmed to 60 and lvl 35 0 gap. >< Convenient, but totally ruins the point of low lvl interaction.

Old memories,

My bro got me Hooked onto this game a few yrs ago,
My first char was a hybrid str nuker with everyskills in the game lol it was funny,

Then the event with Pandora mboxes and other boxes came out, Now that was the best event ever,

But now, all u do it hand grind in a pt for 30 mins, gets boring cause no one talks, or u hunt uniques, or u pvp. Like, we need to get into partyies or do trade runs, sro is really starting to get boring

I think that Silkroad was already dead before Powerlevel.

I remember my first time heading into Donwhang, I didn't even think any other towns except Jangan existed. I was like oh my goodness, this place has dirt floors blah blah, cool. THen eventually when I became Lv24 and moved there that was the last time I seen Jangan. (Jangan the way it used to be that is) Now Jangan has two stalls, which are goldbot companies spamming "BLAH BLAH $10.50 100MIL" That is what I think killed the game, powerlevel contributed but it was a mix of all the bad things with Silkroad which killed it. People now make a char, and move it to Constantinople, which also died three weeks after Europe expansion.
