I don't own a 360 but here's something that might make some of you happy.

Has been over for a long time. It was the first xboxs that were defective, they repair them and send them out over and over again - doomed to fail. People who have bought newer ones have no issues.

What time period are we talking about? 2 of my friends had got a 360 in 07' and both RROD'd the following year. MS released the 360 in 05'

I bought mine in early December 08, and so far there hasn't been no problem at all.

well except when my dad's new gf somehow managed to make it fall (yeah it was on the ground but it was vertical and she made it go horizontal), and my COD4 CD has a nice circle all around it, wich wasn't supposed to be there.. but oh well.

There are 3 motherboards for the 360 according to which 'generation' it is

First gen 360 (2006): Opus (correct me if I'm wrong), Uses 16.1 amps (correct me if I'm wrong), RROD is inevitable.

Second gen 360 (2007): Falcon, Uses 14.2 amps, 10-15~% Chance RROD (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Third gen 360 (2008, usually/always found on the Arcade system): Jasper, Uses 12.1 amps, <10-15~% Chance RROD

To check how many amps your 360 uses, look at the serial code label at the back of your 360, it should say how many amps it uses on the left side

Yeah, the ring of scratch is called a "burn ring" it happens commonly if your 360 is vertical or if you move the xbox when the disk is in and playing. The only way of fixing the disk is to resurface it, but even then, theres no guarantee the disk will be fixed lol

btw You heard the dreadful sound of your disk getting raped when it got knocked over right?

Code: Select all

If you dont use HD with the first gen 360 it is alot less likley to RROD. Mine is a first gen one, its a pre-order one. Almost 3 years after it was released i finally get the RROD and that was only after i started using it alot on a HD tv, it managed to fix itself though, a couple weeks later it started working again and has been working since.

Meh, guess I got really unlucky then. Got a first gen too and 2 RRoD's, never used it on a HD tv >.<

Got mine on June 3, 2008. Falcon Chipset.

Works perfect, never had any troubles with it. Only recently I got an HD TV, previous TV worked with a SCART.
It stands vertically on an extremely stable surface that'd need more than an earthquake to even tremble. I install every game I want to play so it doesn't need to keep the CD drive running all the time, and I never play longer than a few hours at most. That and I keep the CDs in the case when I don't need them, regardless of my urge to use them as frisbees.
When it's turned off, I always put a cover on it to protect it from dust. I have no idea if it helps reducing the chance of a RRoD, but I figured it can't do any harm.

My Xbox360 is a spoiled brat.

My PS3 just sits flat next to my PS2...collecting dust.
