Have you ever been scammed or know someone who has? Or just like me you hate scam artists? Why not go the Guilds and Clans Section of SRF and create a list of people you know that have scammed you or others. These people are low life scums and you would be doing everyone on your sever a favour. Take a screen shot of the encounter and post it in the section of SRF that deals with your server. Make sure you get the scammer's name and guild. I started one for Athens because I got scammed by a Power Leveler today.

If we can have an Exposed botters section then there shouldn't be a problem having a "Scammer's section" or having scammer's caught in the act posted.

don't think it will work, people will just say someone is scamming if they don't like the person and its also not possible to prove if someone has scammed or not so kind of useless

Best you can get is that people will think again before trading with those people but it will be annoying if that person on the list isn't a real scammer and will have a hard time to sell stuff

first of all, if you got scammed, you deserved it.

second of all, exposed botters does help the player, it doesnt create drama between the legits and the illegits so we seperate them.

So let me guess...If you took your credit card to purchase something online and that item never showed up in the mail you deserved it?

I payed someone to PL me and they just left the party and went about there business and I deserve it? Ok sir

He's mildly retarded, don't mind him =)

it'd be kind of hard to prove without a doubt imo.. it would be possible, but probably not worth the trouble, especially since like 1% of each server even comes to these forums
But other than that I agree, scammers = lowlife scum

I guess it would be kinda hard to prove...I'm putting it to you all to toss up some ideas... I guess I was thinking that if you screen shot the encounter it would show the chat/conversation as well. And most scammers right after scamming you don't deny it..they just laugh. Heck some even admit it and challenge u to do something about it. Which u cant.

Whatever is done outside of the coverage of game mechanics (in a general sense) is not subject to protection by the game rules. For instance, the maximum price in a stall is 999,999,999 gold for a single item. Which means that if a person wants more, the game does NOT guarantee protection against a potential scam - you are on your own. Same goes for exchange. Same goes for "powerlevel" (there is no game mechanism for a safe "powerlevel" session/exchange of funds). Same goes for buying/selling items using non-game funds (i.e. real life currency).

It's sad and unfortunate that gold farming/buying/selling inflated the currency to such an extent that the game mechanics are no longer sufficient for trade/exchange. But that doesn't give you the right to cry about the dishonesty of others. It's a risk you take. Whining about it is not going to change anything.

I personally wouldn't use the term "deserve", but I do not sympathize with those who do get scammed. They should be quiet!

And as for the item that you paid for but didn’t get. You call your credit company and initiate a dispute for “non-delivery”. You provide all relevant documentation such as receipts. If a dispute is successful (most of the time it is), the credit card company will issue a chargeback and credit your funds. Unless of course you tried to buy something illegal... in which case you... ummm, “deserve” it ;)

i dont think we have the type of community here where people would call someone out as a scammer just because they dont like them. in the game i agree, this would be pointless but on this forum i think it would work.

Thanks for the technical manuscript but if someone is offering a service (whether real life or virtual)and knowingly take your money/gold for the service and not offer the service you're not at fault. You might as well say that for every rightfully unsatisfied customer who have lost their money or lost the battle to make right the wrong done to them its their fault for being wronged. Which is just a retarded thing to say.

The only sensible and obvious thing from your post is that its all a risk. We take them everyday.

The only people who deserve to be scammed are the morons who think they can cheat to attain better things. Like the people who fall for the , drop your weapon on the ground while were in a share party, and it will turn into a seal of sun item.

The situation is much more straightforward when it involves real life currency rather than virtual currency that is basically free for anyone to obtain. When you deviate from the controlled environment that the game provides, the results will vary. Learn to accept consequences for your own actions.

You essentially payed for a service for which could have gone either way and unfortunately it wasn't a successful transaction since you never received the service you payed for. You saw an alternative solution to leveling the normal way and you got the short end of the stick. In short, you took a risk and the result wasn't in your favor.

So should there be a "known scammer" list? I'm not sure. The only way scamming is possible in Silkroad is when people begin using their own methods of transactions instead of the one provided to conduct their own business. Since both parties are disregarding the official rules of transaction, both should accept the consequences should anything go wrong. Perhaps instead of a known scammer list, there should be a "trustworthy person" list. It would basically allow people to provide feedback on player-provided services that go according to plan.

Well I have to agree with you on this. I did step outside the provided method of having a transaction. Since this is true then for every friend/guild comrade we've helped out on the condition that they would return it but didn't then we deserve it....For every item we loaned out and it never returned we deserve it...not their fault but ours entirely...For every favour asked that cannot be place inside the "controlled environment" that ended up leaving one party with the short end of the stick its person who lost fault...entirely...Everything MUST go through the provided methods of trading. I guess by that token we would never make friends because not everything that can be traded has a physical form. But still...I have to agree...I did take the risk and lost.

I am not all saying that no exchanges should be made outside the provided item exchange. What I'm saying is that if you do decide to make a transaction that you know can result in less than favorable results, don't get your panties in a bunch if you do get scammed.

There is a difference between conducting a transaction between a complete stranger (which is usually the case with powerlevel) and conducting a transaction with someone with whom you developed trust with. If you want to make a deal with a complete stranger, it would only make sense that a high risk level is involved. At the same time, making a deal with someone you know and trust decreases that risk by a lot, but even then there is a tiny amount of risk involved. So my point is, if someone knows they're making a deal with a stranger don't start shouting and running in circles if the deal goes bad. It isn't the victim's fault but it's somewhat difficult to sympathize with those who conduct deals that very commonly lead to scams.

I can understand why you all think that I am whining and crying due to a scam but this isn't the case. I just wanted to have these people (Scammers) identified. Hence the name "SCAMMERS OF YOUR SERVER". It doesn't matter to me what was scammed from me or how much. What matters is that I just can't stand these people. They are the same type of people who, in real life, if given the opportunity will steal your stuff.
