Look at Rev6. The servers are back to the usual 0-3% chance of logging in instead of the previous 30-50% chance. Looks like the bot companies figured out a way to get their goldbots in. Now legits have to fight server traffic at a 20-sec per try rate instead of 3-sec :banghead:

Joymax is doing REALLY well in this war against legits huh... i mean bots.

What if someone were to save a copy of the old client.. And use that instead of the new one?

then it would give you an error telling you to update client with launcher , or even if you managed to get to the logins creen would prolly crash as soon as u click connect

Uhm no, a real legit doesn't use loader. You need at least 15s to restart and fill you id+pw everytime you DC.

I was referring to the one time JM did something right and had the client not DC after logging and all you needed was a heavy book to log in.

i never said it lasted very long. it was removed due to being too good for legits soon after the captcha was removed.

If the login check is done client-side, then JM failed again. You only need to patch the CRC check, then you can use an old client to connect

Mine did after JM updated. Everyone was able to log in with a book on the entery key. Although it was only for a glorious week. If you opened the actual client that time, I'm sure you would've noticed it. It did DC sometimes randomly, but most of the time it let you keep trying for quite a few times.

The PoC system has changed, because with the new login, it gives false PoC's. They fixed it now. And who need PoC anyways since it's queue.

I read the "Silkroad Guard" is still not active and is ineffective towards stopping bots.

I think it was mentioned that it was the login server that send the check back every 20 seconds, which is why anybody who logs in with a client [every commercial bot cept for chinese clientless,] is on par with those using legit clients.

I was referring to the one time JM did something right and had the client not DC after logging and all you needed was a heavy book to log in.

do you know how laggy and buggy was the server then? you know why?
In past with no-dc login without captcha:

pc1 >
pc2 > server = overload
pc3 >

arround 50~100 requestes to log-in to the server every single second is an genocide for an server, so server has to deny or accept 50 requested in one single second.

with captcha you get Login > fill in letter> full > dc ,, gives server time to handle other requests,

but now the newest system is query system, so think it this way.

Login server =/= to game server. Login attempts wouldn’t lag the game. The game lagged cause it was/is shit.

I must have missed this, cause after 2-3 tries the client would d/c.

Yes you did miss it.

It didn't dc right you right after server full or even when you restarted the game. It went to chars selection not to log on window again. It was like very very old times of sro when it came out. But, then again JM didn't want people to be lazy and comfortable with their game, so they 'fixed' it next day with a few server checks.

i didnt miss the old days of the no-dcing for hours at a time. this was when youd get the captcha after so long, and still dc, i wanted to stab something. but he wasnt talking about a long time ago, he meant the recent updates.
