The only guy I know in that program is a 8 foot black guy that wears flip flops and white cotton t-shirts 24/7. He was in some of my first year classes.

I'm in the same faculty (Environment & Business) but i'm switching to geography in September because I hate co-op and it makes me want to spoon my eyes out.

I still have all my books for the first year classes, excellent condition. Maybe you should buy them.

Sorry for my inexperience(still in HS),but I don't get it. How do you guys spend 1-2 years into "X" domain and then decide to just switch to another? Thats like money & time wasted =/

First few years you take a lot of 'basic' classes that can be applied to many different majors. I spent 1.5yrs trying electrical engineering but decided I'd rather do computer science so I switched. The physics, math, English, history, politics, etc all transfer to the cs program. Only thing wasted for me was a 3 hour engr course, electronics engr lab, and matlab class.. They did transfer as electives for my cs degree though.

It also depends where you live and where you studie, i know in America that you go to college or go to work, here (in the Netherlands) you can do both (the company pays your school). And you got the system of Highschool - MBO - HBO - University. So its not only the or work or University choice.

Currently looking at internships for next summer, then I'll have to see where it goes from there. I don't have anything particular in mind, but I have an uncle at Tandberg (video conferencing) in Dallas that could help get my foot in the door there,..

Really though I don't know at this point. I'm hoping that through my internship I can do some networking to help me with job prospects. I'm only halfway through the CS program so I have time to figure out what it is I have the most interest in. Anything working with a development team on software would be fine with me. You'd be surprised at all the companies that hire cs degrees, to be successful in cs you have to be able to learn quick, adapt to problems, and be able to solve said problem efficiently, companies like those skills. Yes, that applies to many other areas of study also.

What if I want to grow up and work at a restaurant and play games and hang with my friends or play with my dogs and be a part time swimming instructor or something like that?

Can I still afford an aparatment and other stuff and lead a happy, fulfilling life?

Depends how skilled you are, and basically where you can land a job with culinary skills.

Alot of people play games, even with busy lives lol.. that all depends on what hobbies certain people adapt.

The happy and fullfilling part comes, from you.. what are you happy with and what does success mean for you? Did you reach your goals, and basically are you happy with your self and ur future. Money is a part of it too, but really.. if you are good at what you do, it will probably be worth it.

Your going to have a hard time sooner or later without a college degree. A carefree life where you get by doing odd jobs is a thing of the past now.

by reading the bls website and other statistics they post. I don't want to bother going into detail but we live in an information based economy and manufacturing in america is in decline.

and its basic common sense that bachelors degree>high school diploma. You learn supply and demand in high school econ class? Why do you think minimum wage is only $7? No need for sarcasm.

You can probably just get by, but retirements gonna be hard, and you won't have much money for extra spending.
