Researched some and found this Quote: Burd says this should be easy on an industrial scale: all that’s needed is a fermenter, a growth medium and plastic, and the bacteria themselves provide most of the energy by producing heat as they eat. The only waste is water and a bit of carbon dioxide.
But as its been said this happened well over a year ago, and we haven't heard much about it..soo...

Wood is cool and all, but it often takes more energy and overall results in more waste to use wood over plastic.

More People -> more supply/demand -> more waste being made(come on people, only few people follow the rules!;recycling, and other shyt) -> until no where to throw it at(except outer-space). 1 solution... Kill all people that are not worthy in living this world, F UCK HUMAN RIGHTS!!! or better.... WORLD WAR3!!!... so there is an excuse why many people get killed

Population control. people dying in the middle east doesn't have a big effect on world pollution and carbon production. If people started dying on a mass scale in china, europe, america, etc. then maybe pollution would decrease. But the only real way for that to happen is if people started colonizing other planets or if there was a big war and both probably won't happen while we are all alive.
