Post subject: Lightning Blader vs Fire? Posted: Tue Oct 10, 2006 12:00 am |

You hear all sorts of tests, votes, and conclusions about Fire Bladers vs Ice Bladers, but i want to hear some examples of light vs fire bladers.
Has anyone tested this out?
Lightning seems to be in the dark when it comes to pure str. But im curious if its possible for light bladers to do possibly even more damage than fire bladers because of shock? Yes, you will be losing the 7% phys damage bonus you get from the buff, but you will be getting a 16% bonus to your imbue from lightning buff, plus that parry ratio debuff from the imbue.
__________
Secondly, is it possible to be an AoE blader with lightning imbue?
Max light imbue, max both books of snake sword dance, and flower bloom blade?
Would love some replys on this, am very curious, and i believe its a fairly good arguement. So lemme know if its a silly idea... or something to definately take into consideration

Yes i can read the basic numbers on the imbues as well. I wasnt asking about base damage.
The original question was, with shock... can lightning out-damage fire because of the reduced parry ratio?

Lightning imbue with fire buffs can be useful.
The damage is on average about the same with spikes tending to be higher than fire, but there are also points lower than fire.
It can give better damage, but fire's damage is more consistent.

Sorry for double post but. lighting effect and fire burn wont be any use becuase, there is an invention called Cures.... no real Pker goes out without cures. Plus the status reduce skill for bladers. big help

thats a silly accusation, shock happens before you hit him. So minimum you will be getting 1-2 hits with shock status, with cures. You would have to be 100% resistant for it to be "worthless"
and this isnt a discussion about ice, so dont bring it in here please.

why is it you think fire is better for a pure str ? The buffs and passives can be easily obtained with little sp.

i think ppl in isro have been brainwashed by ksro. i think all imbues have their pros and cons. all 3 can contribute significantly at some point or another.

although this has nothing at all to do with this post but its another build u can think of doing if ur gonna choose lightning.... bladers tank pretty swell so i always thought but never tryed this build.. pure str bicheon, lightning as main force, and get hueksal for hp buff. stick with a good atleast 16+BR shield and u can tank just about anything. only reason im posting this is cause its a good idea to try and build it and see how it turns out. i would try but with all my chars lowest being 47, i will never make another new char lmao

Best and fastest way for a blader to level up. Also if you are going to do this, get the first book of lion shout for quicker pulls without using your other skills.
Lol, and Shiz.... just depends on if the character is farmed or not, for a farmer, its not too bad :p Only need to get fire to 52-57.

lol ^^^
i was wondering if you were going to find this thread...
me and lyrikk are both light bladers...
with the bow passive to level 2 and the bird as high as it can go at 20 and a weapon with a high attack rating... coupled with the parry reducing effects of shock, you end up doing very high damage most of the time...
with my 42 blader i have taken down level 46 glaivers, 47+ pure ints, and when i was 41 i took down a level 42+ blader (bladers rarley take down other bladers close to their level) using a 38+3 blade.
Lyrikk in game has taken down 67+ nukers... and hes only 60.
Light makes pulling mobs extremly easy...
and for those who say go fire because of the buffs.. why couldnt we just go fire secondary for the buffs? isnt that what you str fire builds do to get grasswalk?
and besides, its different, and i dont mind taken shit from cookie cutters because i took another imbue besides fire.

Mkay,
I first started my guy i was lightning. I was a SP farm whore FYI and at 27? or so i switched to fire because i hated always aggoring things i didnt want and i like how i do a massive burn and good damage on enemys.

massive fire damage? shock more than makes up for the "massive burn damage".
and you use armor and you hate aggroing monsters?
mobbing them is the fastest way to grind... you dont have to run to them when they are right next to you...

Because untill auto pot and the alchemy update ice was extremely usefull, now, not so much. But I've been considering getting lightning imbue. You'd get more mobs on you faster, does a little damage to each of them as you pick em off one by one, the status effect is a lot better than fires, and the damage is average. I'd probably only use it in PvE though. Every bit of damage counts in PvP.
