yeh its still a thing depending on your university, had something similar at plymouth university, UK. I also get free keys at work if they use microsoft framework (keep in mind i am a software developer), i have claimed over 100 keys for all windows os from xp to 10

for me it's the best OS. Plus I use <questionable link removed> to protect my data and bypass all restricions. That's convy and doesn't cost much. Internet privacy is a serious issue these days.
