One of the largest empires of the world. But i cant see any proof that this was in the time of Silk Road. The silk road has a long history and is not from xxx BC to xxx BC. But its spreads over a 3000 years. But it can be that the persians used this road to trafel goods between there citys. The lastest part of the silk road has been completed in 1994.
