As u can see SRO is a part of our life now and we know how important our accounts 4us.Think about what would u do if u lose ur account.I hope this toppic will be a guide 4 newbie internet users.
______________________________________________
1-First of all do not share ur e-mail adress with other people if u really dont know them.
2-Find a good 3rd party firewall program. Here are the best ones
Zone Alarm
Kaspersky 6.0.2.621(antivirus-good firewall and spyware)
Outpost Firewall
COMODO(My favorite)
3-Find a good anti-virus program
Kaspersky and Norton are really good but my favorite is NOD32(RULZ)
4-Find a good spyware program
Windows Defender is really cool
Hijackthis

5-Install a pop-up blocker to prevent adware and spyware pop-up windows. Also if u have internet explorer 7 u dont need.

6-Make sure the programs you install don't contain adware. Many bot programs do include adware. ALSO DO NOT USE BOT CLIENTS IN ORDER TO FARE GAME.

Don't forget IE sucks, and most adaware malware are made for it, as it is the majority browser. Most doesn't work for less popular browsers such as Firefox(what I use) or Opera, so its alot safer to use one of those.

Never, EVER voluntarily install norton on your computer. Free anti-virus programs work just as well and don't slow down your computer or act like a virus in and of themselves. Norton = evil.

110% agreed.

I own a company that does malware removal and we see between 60-80 computers a week that need a complete cleanup. Of those, over 90% are running Norton/Symantec products which report that everything is OK.

If you've ever had to remove Norton, you'll know that even after getting rid of it through Add/Remove you'll still have to run the Norton Removal Tool to get rid of it. Even after doing that, there will still be traces of Norton's presence such as broken registry permissions due to the fact that it operates just like a rootkit.

Just because a product is the sales volume leader does not mean it is the best product.
