For starters $ helps. If you just got level 20 I'd advise you to do a few trade runs before thieving, but if you got 75-100k your set.

Item List:
1. Thief Suit
2. 5 Bandit Return Scrolls
3. 5 Arabian Camels
4. 5 Horses
5. 100 recovery kits
6. 100 Hp & Mp Potions
7. Thieving Partner (Optional)
8. A guide to thieving routes (Optional)
9. 5 Red horses (Optional)

The thief is that hardest of all jobs. You've got to be worried about 'Hunters', being 'Wanted', and much, much more.

As a thief never stay on the roads, stay to the mountain tops or to the side behind bushes. In other words 'Stay Hidden'.

The only way you can attack traders is if there on a 2 star trade. You can tell by seeing how many NPC thiefs they spawn and double-clicking them.

1 NPC Thief - 1 star
2 NPC Thief - 2 star
3 NPC Thief - 3 star
4 NPC Thief - 4 star
5 NPC Thief - 5 star

Once you've stolen the trade, use your Return scroll. (Bandit Den Return Scroll)

If you get a 3+ star trade take hiding, only get off your horse/camel for attacking thiefs.

This should be enough to get you started.

Thieving routes coming soon!
If anyone has any good blank open maps of SR please send them to me.

I know routes a lvl 52 would take. I know routes a lvl 20 would take. I've theived for around 6 months almost when the game came out.

Double spawns can be decieving. I usually watch a trade for 2 spawns unless its obvious.

Be subtle, watching from behind the caravan or way off to the side pretending to kill monsters helps. Showing off your big nuke on a chajki tells people that you don't belong there and to be wary. Also groups of guild members following a caravan is pretty obvious, spread out.

Make sure you look around for hidden hunters or stragglers, hunters are often behind mopping up a mob and can come up suddenly.

Put on suit, buff, summon your camel then attack so you don't deal with the 20 second rule for summoning transports.

Attack the most dangerous character first (hunter or merchant) and let the npc thieves do your work for you, kill them last. Kill them all, to hell with the arrange points. Survivors follow you and bring hunters.

When you have the loot run away, then change directions once out of sight. Stop somewhere quiet, people love to gawk at theives, this can get you killed.

Don't forget to activate the bandit den summon scroll immediately.

Desuit at the bandit camp, that way once you teleport you can suit up immediately.

Watch your arrange points, if they go over 3k you're wanted.

Thieves spawn on your transport just like they do on a merchant, be prepared, the summon scroll is REALLY slow. You cannot summon thieves at will.

Be very careful of hunters! I was talking to my friend while he was training on Troy and came to an intersection with probably 25* worth of stuff. He was thinking about going thief and ganking it but decided it was too fishy. As soon as he started to walk away he noticed a guild of hunters behind a tree xD. They were all level 60+ and just WRECKING thieves that thought they could handle it. It had taken 3 or 4 fire oxes to get all the stuff there.

No lamp needed. The NPC spawns randomly.

another bit of advice is when looking for a trade to steal from wear armor lower than u are so even if they notice you, they will think your no problem, not good if they spot u watch then call for a high lvl guild mate to back them up, also ive noticed that some 2*+ traders in the jangan area like to go around the back of the bandit stronghold because its not busy and they think no player theifs will spot them around there

Its a crummy game exploit, where high level thieves summon transports next to lower level 1* traders. When NPC thieves begin attacking their transport, they may attack the level 1* as well. Or they may destroy their transport, and the thieves will turn onto the low level.

It's a dishonorable and cowardly thing to do.

Dishonourable? It's a game man...if it was real life then yeah sure...

But cowardly? You can hardly call them that, if most of the trade runs are all 1 stars. I hardly ever see any 2 star runs on Babel, and they come at the weirdest times of the day to play.

Yeah, I'd be pissed off at the thieves, but calling them dishonourable? Dude, their thieves!

Though it was interesting to see that on a trip to Jangan I saw a few thieves trying out that tactic... They were dying left and right... I came back, all their stuff was on the ground, and they were all dead XD

as a hunter i hate it, but since you thieves tend to try to hide your levels, plz do it right
i often see thieves wielding lv21 weapons and having lv30+ buffs applied
seeing a black hawk makes me think that you are might hiding something. not to mention that guy some days ago, having power guard of ice (mastery lv48 requied) buffed on him while claiming hes a poor noob and is only training on chakjis :D
(i know ill regret this grrr)

Also, try to find like 50+ lvl thieves that are also thiefing so you could hang out tiwht them and get some protectection. Lke yesterday, I started with one Lvl 62+ thief called Fly, then he invited like 9 more thieves and we ownd every single hunter that came by Thief hill. Even a lvl 60 guy came and the our 10 guys ownd him, well Fly(62) and Original 60) did most of the work.

If you stay off the main road how can you see who's coming by the road. You cant see far away.

Is thiefing even possible ATM? Or are most traders to shy to do 2*+ trades? I'm thinking i'll become a thief, but i read to much thread about how difficult thiefing is... Maybe I should become Trader and do only 1* runs xD

No serious, I really wan't to thief, but I read much negative threads. The last judgement:

Is it worth to become a thief ATM?

It's almost impossible to find a 2*-5* trade run. Unless the traders are with Level 70 hunters or it's one of those huge Unioun/Guild trade runs.

Popping is the only thing you should do if you thief until you get to about Level 50.
