If it happens all the time it's a graphic card problem. You need to update your drivers. If you don't know how (sigh) write what O/S you're using and i'll get you the link to download (i've done it like 5 times already on this forum alone lol...).
If it happens only once in a few times you start the game then I don't know what it is - I get that too (we got the same processor), but I just ignore it.
And by the way, why do you have a SLI motherboard if you only use one geForce card? :P

A - Not a noob, I know about graphics update, I have updated my'n to play 2142, I think the driver is more advanced than SRO's compatability...
B - Bought it with a SLI motherboard... It came with the PC and one GFX, might aswell have it, buying x2 7950's SLI...
C - ???? right and left doesn't work, but I spent some time cleaning PC, used :C/Program files/silkroad/client.exe and loaded it up the same way as you would the desktop shortcut version but it worked...
Must be a connection error or a corrupt file between the "shortcut" and main silkroad files.

A- There's no such thing as "too advanced". That is, unless you're using the beta version of the new ForceWare driver (93.81 or something). The game works best with the latest, non-beta version - 93.71. Though I've played it before with the beta drivers without a problem, it runs smoother with the .71 version.
B- Care to toss your 7600 my way? That way i'll have 2 and be able to use SLI myself :P
C- Strangest thing I've heard all week. There's no such thing as a file between a shortcut and it's destination. But perhaps something with the destination is wrong. Check the shortcut's properties to see if it's destination ends with "\Silkroad.exe" and has nothing after the " (like "\Silkroad.exe" -test).

say that to my computer :S it says silkroad.exe, and yes there can be errors occur when shortcut has to run from desktop, not manually from the location of which its installed.... why would I chuck a 7600 gt away? all games are perfect on it, no need to change until dx9 games come out... then use SLI...
Too advanced as in, the driver has been fully updated for the best top notch requirments out... and I proved myself right by using the right location instead of the shortcut to prove my driver works

You can't launch sro_client.exe directly. It will tell you "please launch silkroad.exe." It's not just your graphics driver that may cause this. Sound drivers, AGP drivers, and everything else in between also causes this. Update them all properly and up to the latest STABLE version. Also close your background apps when you play.

In addition, I can tell you that the "????" shouldn't be occurring at all. It seems like the Silkroad dev team didn't test the software with different configurations at all, thus their code isn't of very high quality. Anyway, this is because Silkroad works best with a clean install (found that out after reinstalling Windows 2000 SP4 because of something else) (Which is why I don't get that error at all. :D. Though I don't have much time for Silkroad at any rate).

FYI, that message tells you that silkroad has encountered error, would you like to send in error report? One's "yes," the other's "no." In chinese.
