Armour, get a good set with nice blues, as a pure intelligence you will suffer from criticals if you have protector.
Crap, I got QFT'd.

There's no "right" on what you should wear, it's all up to the user. Instead of asking us, I suggest you go and buy a set of both and try out which one you like better. You can be an INT in garms and still do fine, just use what you feel most comfortable with.
I prefer to use prot/garms over armor, but thats just me.

Yes there is, go garment full intelligence and PvP.
PvE it'll be alright but just try and PvP.
Edit:
The point is to reduce the damage as much as possible, 1k less damage might just give you enough time to finish that one nuke and kill instead of the other way around.

It's better with a hybrid because you have the health to survive strength builds, pure intelligene are much more fragile.

Pure int's are generally s/s, which in case is less demanding as you can use the castle shield and KD to save your life. Keep in mind he also hasn't said anything about pvp, so you also have to take PvE in mind.

Garm PvE, armour PvP, and he could balance by using Prot but he'll be average at both but I'd rather be good at one.
@ Guy who says he'll get one hit by ints
Come back after you've actually fought some pure ints.

Ive decided on armour, as i level thought and i get more money ill buy a garment set. Armour will have the most defence i will need. As long as i can be strong i will be fine. The armour will have at least int 4 and str 4 on everything. So i think armour will do me fine.
Thanks Guys

@ Guy who says he'll get one hit by ints Come back after you've actually fought some pure ints.
all the one hit int in armor claims are ofcourse bs.. but you do much worse against pure ints. I'm garms now (lvl 61) and i beat every pure int in armor (unless it's sox). The lower dmg and lower mag def is just enough to lose your edge and make you lose to another pure int every time.
So i would say garms for PvE, since you kill most things before they reach you an can cover the rest with potz. And this will alow you to do the most dmg and move as fast as possible.
And protector for PvP since you need more phy def for the str builds.
And if you wanna go with just one go protector.
**edit** garms work untill about lvl 56 after that you do so bad against pure str's. I notice it now the really hard way, every pure STR beats me. Unless they are a little noob or just with a big gap.
Even bladers i use to pwn bladers, must be a new chain or something cause they hurt now.

You ain't got nothing on us badass Bladers, Flexo.
OT: Go for Garment. I honestly don't think that the Protector will make that big of a difference when fighting a Pure STR, and while the 20% MP Reduction is helpful for saving MP pots, and thus, gold, but the 20% Speed Bonus significantly speeds up your grind time - not to mention that it helps you run away from Pure STR's, if they're in Armor and such.
Garments. There's a reason why you see most Pure INTs at the Cap running around in Garments instead of Armor / Protector. Come to think of it, I don't see anybody running around in that sexy 8D Armor anymore...

if you have the money buy both
since your gonna buy one with 4 str and int on everything, it's asuming you have some money.
like maney other people said, maybe an average garm set just for grinding

well at my server they almost all run arround in protector/armor. Even lvl 10 ppl asking me why i was using garms. But I used them for the same reasons you mentioned and the def was okay but later on it just doesn't work anymore. Unless you wanna spend all your time running away from str's then yeah.. go garms, they'll never catch you.
It was my strategy for lvl 64+: phantom, run.. phantom again.. and you're gone..
i've seen nobody catch me when i've phantomed a second time. and a nice little U turn will have them looking in all the wrong places lol

If you buy gold ... even once ... don't ever complain about bots .. or lag ... or being ks'ed ... or full servers because YOU will be part of the reason we have all of those things on SRO.

At higher levels it's a lot harder to blue the clothes, so if you already have a nice set for armour or protector it wouldn't be that wise to swtich to garms, unless your weapon can one/two hit your target already, in that case speed is everything. People who think training is saving the most pots, it's not, it's getting the most kills in the least amount if time. So phantom in armour and phantom in garms makes no difference. Of course if you are in npc gear then switch to garms for PvE.
Also, I just don't like the idea of a pure in s/s in protector, and it is NOT because of the generic sterotype. I see too many pure ints fall to strength builds in one hit w/o crit in prot, so unless you are prepared to fully blue your protector I'll stick to my original argument, go armour.

Well if you switch to garms you will do more dmg too, because the mag-reinforce is bigger on garms. So garms means more dmg and more speed. Ofcourse this is asuming that your garms mag reinforce are better then your prot/armor (also looking at +int). But still 2 good sets is for rich ppl, i've already bought my garms cheap like 15lvl's ago so that's why i'll have 2 sets till like 72 but I wouldn't do it normaly. not sure what you are saying here. Quote: Also, I just don't like the idea of a pure in s/s in protector, and it is NOT because of the generic sterotype. well i don't think you need full blue.. but imo any pure int should invest in at least some +str on his gear if you want to do good against STR's. Even when you are in armor. Cause i've seen plenty of armor wearing INT get owned too and everytime I ask them about their blue they have like +5str or even less.
Besides you still have the INT builds... most INT go with protector so they'll have a advantage. By going armor you lose that advantage and are less fast in PvE. Not looking at phantom cause that's the same, but normal walk-speed.

Well your considered one of the rich ones, for the PvPers w/o blues it is a death wish. Pure intelligence in garment with out a nice weapon will get killed when mobed, before anyone says anyting, YES I have played a pure intelligence character so I actually know what I'm talking about, and it was med-high leveled. If you can afford two sets than go ahead, but strictly PvP you will only need one set, and my choice will still be armour.
Most intelligence builds go protector because a lot of intelligence builds are hybrids, at least nowadays. Yes you will lose a slight advantage against them but you gain an advantage against a strength build. As for walking speed, I never cared about that as if they run, you're going to nuke anyways, all I really need is phantom.

Garms will indeed need a good weapon, that's what the garms are all about high dmg and so fast killing. shadowman20875 wrote: Most intelligence builds go protector because a lot of intelligence builds are hybrids, at least nowadays. well i dunno how slight the disadvantage is with prot vs armor when 2 INT's pvp. But garms vs armor is not slight at all, the diffrence in def and dmg is very obvious.
As for speed.. you are right it's not really important. I just like it a lot.. it's a little extra and it can save your life or help you kill. Since mobility is a key in my fighting strategy (not 1vs1 but during group fights)
well either way.. it's a personal prefrence either armor or protector
I think both will be pretty good, i just prefer to do well against both STR and INT.
Also concidering that the number of nukers has increased lately, at least at rome.
