How do you manage to get english text instead of squares?

The question is the one above. I've installed and played Silkroad with the European add-on, but all i see instead of text are rows of small rectangles.

I see in screenshots that others have their texts displayed normaly. Is there a catch here? Thank you in advance for any advice

here you go:

just before you hit start in the SRO splash screen hit options and set the language to english there (it is on english but just slect it again) and hit Ok or confirm and then the start button.

Tadzaaam: all english
