between a skill tick and prem quest ive been able to keep a 0 gap into the 40's with a bard sub for the speed only as well. I dont have all wiz books as some i dont find very useful like light attack books and fire trap. If you plan on taking a sub that requires alot more sp like having a lock or cleric sub you will definately need a gap if u want to have your sub be close to your lvl.
Since euro gear is determined by mastery i would keep a minimal gap until you have the full set of your current deg's gear, then allow your gap to expand as you need the def of a full set. Do a few lvl's then when getting to the next deg wep and gear decrease the gap and start lvlin untill u get that full set.
Pretty sure once at higher lvls one decent or 2-3 semi farms are gonna be required to be able to max out just your main as skills start to require alot of sp

Sorry to go off topic, but here you go.
http://ubanimator.com/ <-This animates the userbars.
http://www.userbars.be/ <-You can get the userbars from here.
Just copy the image url of the userbar to the animator list.
If a warrior uses only one weapon, they need about 60K sp. They can get that with 0 gap
Almost everyone else needs a 2-3 gap. For my bard, I had 0 gap to begin with (didn't lvl any skill till 4, tho) and bought everything until I hit lvl 20. I couldn't get most of the skills, so I started a gap and figured out that a 3 gap would allow me to gain every skill at 30 (except the dancing skills).
I haven't done the research after lvl 30, tho, since I'm only 24 now. I would assume 2-3 gap would continue.
