i think its bad, cuz warlock dont have phy damage, and if u wnat more phy resitence use light armor...
im use Heavy Armor, its hard to up cuz a low SP, but its wonderfull againts phy mob.
obs: 80% of all mob in SRO its phy damage....
=)
try make one Hibrid, 2.1... and tell or damage and resistence...

but DOT damage isn't affected by INT is it? So that might actually work. Not sure though, haven't had a warlock build myself.
Is the DOT damage INT based? or an absolute value?

Don't you see the magic damage numbers beside the skill damage and that JM mentioned that Wizard and Warlock were int classes? DoT attacks are int based.

"Hatred is my power and execration is my life. You will feel the real power of my curses when you are full of hatred." There are many kinds of magic in the world, and they have developed in different shapes. Most magic uses strong force or shocks people to show their power. However, the so-called "Warlocks" are known to achieve their goals by placing curses on enemies, weakening their capability, or reducing their will to fight. Since their skill is based on Wizards' skill, they use mana, too. Wizards utilize mana to control elements of nature, whereas Warlocks utilize mana to enhance the power of hatred and thereby to reduce the power of enemies. They gradually destroy the power of enemies by placing curses, weakening, paralyzing them and putting them in chaos. They also utilize Wizard's skill to control elements of nature to directly damage enemies and make them in abnormal status. In addition, they have a skill to utilize blood to weaken enemies. For example, they take blood from an enemy to recover their strength.
Also, the DoT attacks skill line is called Dark Mentalist. Let me quote that also.
Warlocks created a new type of curse magic, Dark Mentalist, by combining the will to curse and elements of nature. The power or curse soaked in elements of nature overwhelms enemies and damages them periodically as well as deprives them of the will to fight against the curse, causing enormous dangerous.
When I use use the magic debuffs on my opponents, my DoT's do more damage.

I'm working on a Dark Knight concept: s/s Warrior + Warlock
I'm trying to work out the details before building the character.
I am not dismissing the hybrid for 2 reasons:
1) Vampire skill is based on magic damage. Since this is the primary method for regaining health, it may justify some additional intelligence.
2) I have heard that some warrior skills are magic based (i.e. stabs?)
I am considering several builds, and used the Chinese java applet for the following lvl 80 info:
Build..........HP.........MP........Phys-Mag %
Full Str = 16060.....4732.........97-28
Str 2:1 = 12236.....8555.........82-51
50% M = 12475.....8316.........83-50 (5 pt diff. from 2:1)
My main concerns are
1) PvP, Rogues or nukers can 1 shot the hybrid
2) DoT would increase with int (and therefore decrease with my lack of int)
3) Frequently recieve Resist when casting spells (i.e. Slumber, Daze, Decayed, or Raze) because I lack Int
4) Which armor? Heavy is probably best for PvE, but PvP might depend on the opponent.....

Just for the sake of having all the information, here are the same builds with the expected +24 to Int/Str from equip.
Build..........HP.........MP........Phys-Mag %
Full Str = 17207.....5879........102-35
Str 2:1 = 13383.....9703.........86-58
50% M = 13622.....9464.........87-56 (5 pt diff. from 2:1)

It's called a Death Knight, not a Dark Knight this isn't Batman.
Vampire skill requires int? Since when.
Warrior skills are not magic based, this is euro not chinese and Physical skills never where...
Since when do you need Int to avoid resists? I thought it was the opponents resists that determine if your skills hit or not...
Heavy armor has and always will suck big monkey balls.
Hybrids are a thing of the past, its all about the skills.
-GL with your BatMan build

Quote: It's called a Death Knight, not a Dark Knight this isn't Batman. Sorry, FFXI was my first MMO, so I resort to their terminology: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/intro/about/job01.html?pageID=aboutThe Dark Knight of FFXI use Black Magic and Weapon skills with med-heavy armor. However, black magic was divided into direct damage and debuffs. Black Mage specialized in direct damage, but DK specialized in debuffs. Quote: Vampire skill requires int? Since when. Vampire Touch/Kiss clearly states that damage is XXX% Magical Damage, like imbues, nukes, Holy Word, and wizard skills. Quote: Warrior skills are not magic based... That is what I expected, but I wanted to confirm it. It was hearsay from another post, but no one countered their claim. Quote: Since when do you need Int to avoid resists? I didn't mean to say you need Int to avoid resists, but I do not know why any skill gets "Resist," unless that is the catch-all for "failed" Quote: Heavy armor has and always will suck big monkey balls.

I agree... heavy armor only looks good, but has major drawbacks.
As far as hybrids? IMO only chinese can make a good hybrid (i.e. 70:70 Bow), while Euro is too black and white: either pure Str or pure Int.

Atsuten wrote: Vampire Touch/Kiss clearly states that damage is XXX% Magical Damage, like imbues, nukes, Holy Word, and wizard skills. That doesn't mean it requires int. It does a set amount of damage multiplied by the magical damage of your weapon. When you zerk and use Vampire Kiss, there is no difference between its zerked and non zerked damage. A pure str warlock that has the same level Vampire Kiss and a similar magical damage stat on the rod will do near the same damage as a pure int. Atsuten wrote: I didn't mean to say you need Int to avoid resists, but I do not know why any skill gets "Resist," unless that is the catch-all for "failed" Debuffs have a 80% chance of working if you fight someone of the same level as the debuff. The % decreases depends on the difference in the person's level and the skill level of your debuff.

Well if your planning to group pvp, i dont see why not. But if you go via str, expect to just support with debuffs instead of killing. But iono, anyone ever think about supporting and not killing before?
Short to say, str warlocks prolly cant kill, but can sure as hell debuff and perhaps tank better than int ones.

Ehem support wise >_> I said str as a support not dder. Basicly, you just debuff your opponents and let your group kill em. Well, thats what i think anyways.

well, that was kinda my suggestion:
debuff with warlock, then finish the mob with 1hd sword skills.
--------------------
Major downside I thought of is that the warrior buffs are really good... but if you switch to warlock (i.e. for vampire touch), then you'll loose those great buffs...
