WARNING - NOT FOR THE WEAK HEARTED, CONTENTS RACIST [towards Americans/Chinese/Japanese/etc] COMMENTS FROM YOUTUBE USERS.
During World War II, the Japanese established a researched facility in northern China to perform experiments on humans. After the defeat of Japanese forces, the Japanese made a secret deal with the US government to go unpunished, in return, the US can have the test data.

Well known fact.
The Japanese were more cruel than the Nazis, the Russians killed 5x (30 million) more of its own citizens in goulags than the number of Jews the Nazis killed.
Although, it's against our morals and values as a society, the war atrocities of the second world war advanced our understanding of the human body more than any other event or events combined. In the end, it has saved more lives than it has taken.

not as well known as you think. Makes sense when you think about it. I don't see the "The Diary of Cheuy-Taipan" or "Hiroshi's List" ...just saying that coverage of WW2 atrocities tends to focus only on Nazi's....

Indeed. Some of you might remember the conflict regarding the japanese history books, which ommited the atrocities commited by the japanese in China.

i didnt know untill i saw the film 'Blacksun 731' i think it was called, in the film, they recreated what they did to chinese prisoners, such as freezing this womans hand, then breaking it, throw live cats in a room filled with rats, disecting people who were still alive and putting this guys arm in really cold temperature, then straight into some hot water, and ripped all his skin off
but the US covering the story is worse, they let all those evil japanese get away with it... thought US would have known better...

Actually, in a 20th century history class you would learn that the French started it with the treaty of Versailles ending World War I.
I watched all 5 parts, it was a very good documentary. I liked it. That's why my TV is always on the history channel.

Honestly: not very correct
You can indeed state that the treaty of Versailles was to hard for the germans and the german economy. But it was not only France who was in that train...
It's plain simple:
Partially due to the treaty of versaille german economy was very bad, people were hungry, unemployed etc. Hitler arrived on the stage an gave the blame for this to the jews and restarted the german war factory after he was elected in '33. This provided jobs, money, foor etc. --> hence his popularity.
They invaded Austrich first (Sudetenland if i recall correct, they were welcomed as the pope in Lourdes) After that they invaded poland which lead to the reaction of France and the UK (and Belgium to i think)

Partially due? You realize that Germany had to pay money until nearly the 1990s? You realize most of the world was in an economic depression of a severity never known?
Hitler arrived on stage and was not elected, but put into place after the chancellor died, the only reason this was possible was because of the living conditions brought on by the treaty of versailles.

+1 they can't use the Versailles Treaty as an excuse to start war especially since even though the German economy was terrible it was still better than alot of other 3rd world countries at the time....i don't see them starting wars

Then you clearly don't understand what the treaty of versailles is, its terms, and its effects on the german people.

Your right i don't know all the details but i know it was extremely harsh. I also know that the economy would've eventually recovered even if it took 80+ years. They acted like a bunch of spoiled babies, they wanted the german style of life they'd been used to and the economy wasn't allowing it so they started a war....It was there choice to fight. Its like saying the French stole their lunch money so they went into the school and shot up the place
OT: y are you on now anyway...i don't normally see you on until like 11:00pm ET

This thread isn't about the treaty of versailles.
OT: Watched all 5 parts, learned a lot that I wasn't aware of.
I now see a lot of people in a different light.

I agree the Treaty of Versailles was too hard for the germans, but I do think that Hitler used it as an excuse to start another war.
And by the way the treaty of Versailles is a consequence of the 1st World War, which the germans started also.

You're all not understanding its impact. It was not Hitler's justification, its psychological impact affected the german people so much that they accepted Hitler's lead and supported his ideas.
It's what permitted him to take over, without it the people would of not supported him.

I understand what you mean, i studied all of Hitler's propaganda techniques. We studied the 2nd World War for like 3 months.
But my problem is that i'm not 100% at english, so i cant really say what i want to say, but from what i've reading of you, i can tell you also know much about this subject.

I have. It was ok, it was nothing special. The way it was presented was way too subjective. You have to remember that before, and even during the start of the war, Hitler was reguarded as a good guy, a world hero.
With the Olympics being hosted in Berlin 3 years before the war started, and Hitler being time magazine's man of the year the year before the war started, no one saw it coming.
Even then, if you were to remove the holocaust, Hitler did great things. He set up infrastructure into many of the poorer countries he conquered, he modernized Europe, and he saved the world from communism. He is also reponsible for recovering the world's economy, boosting production from both the allies and axis forces.
However, it's always the winners that write history. If Hitler would of won, it's the americans that would of looked like asses. Dropping atomic bombs on civilians, firing bombing German cities; and the Russians as well, raping hundreds of thousands of german women and children.
When you're dealing with history you have to stay objective. Both sides did humane and inhumane things, and it's not right to judge anybody for anything because you don't live in that sociocultural context.
