Tanking Saytan for you when he comes out? :) Yeah, wolves start out promising, and end up well.... bleh. I'd get one if you love unique hunting (like isyu at 5x--tougher for INT without wolf), otherwise its not really great.

didnt know getting a wolf involves so much science.

if it's costly ... get one when u are grinding in your 50s ... no excuse to be poor by then. you may not be able to buy a soX for your level ... but definitely more than enough to own and upkeep a wolf.

it's as useful as you use it.

Buy it, then sell later on for a profit if you aren't happy with it.

I bought mine at level 1, sold it (has to be no-name) at level 40 for 2.5m.

1.What kind of damage do they do? (good/bad)
Every extra dmg is good dmg lol. So good. :P
2.If you barely have 1m are they really worth geting?
Ya. Especially if you're STR.
3.i know their useful for theifs but what about merchants? (theifs ride a fast horse to keep up with wolf attacking merchant)
Like I said: Every extra dmg is good dmg. :3
4.is the 'upkeep' expensive?
Nah. Just keep an eye on their hp. They do get hungry but at lower lvls they lvl so fast you don't have to buy HGP pots for em.
5.are they same damage as white wolf?
Yes, the Grey Wolf is the same as the White Wolf, except the color and that the White Wold if Item Mall stuff.
6.can NPC theifs now attack your wolf before you when trading or cant they attack the wolf until wolf attacks them?
NPC Thieves rather attack you though. :3

wolves are 1337 lol I dunno bout that other guy but i loved using my wolf to 80 only time i had him on passive was nachals cus he was gettin his rear blown away
Theyre good for everyone although definitely for STR but INT too. Something that would take a nuke and a shout turns into just one nuke. I cant stand grinding without my buddies on any of my chars.
Dont buy one unless you have at least 1.5m. New players shouldnt look for one till say 24 unless you get some good cash beforehand. hunger pots arnt expensive and anyway till 28 or so you should be able to lvl the wolf and get full HGP back without having to buy the pots. HP pots are worth it 20 are about 14k (xlarge) in the beginning youll be using even smaller and its way better than payin 50k to res a dead one.
IMO they need even larger pots cus 80 wolves down like 3 to get back to full and oxes dont cut it much anymore with 80 npc thieves waxin em. Instead of carrying money to the bank in an armoured vehicle its as protected as wheeling it there on a bike

Im just lvl 29 , my wolf is 29 :) , and its really useful.. heres how i use it

Im wizard/cleric/full int with low hp, 800k and close to 2k mp, im 2 shots
for mob of my own lvl. But i can kill creeps of my lvl in 1 shot.

Mober: I make wolf go arround the mob and gather 5 at a time, then
use 2 AOE , 1-2 shot kill, and cool exp. (u can use delete and end keys
for making wolf gather mob. end=attk ,, delete=comes bak 2 u). Use
del, end keys and gather mob.

Giant hunter: I cant hunt even lvl 23 giant solo, even with buffs
i make wolf tank it, its really easy for him, when wolf is hunting giant,
i just do timepass by hitting monsters arround giant :), i can bringdown
lvl 30 giant with wolf(takes some time and pet pots) , havent tried 31 yet.
And ive seen my frnd use wolf for killing giant party monsters (ya
giant+party, not just a giant).

Trading: Im trader , and i think every1 got to do trading till 40 atleast.
When thieves come, i use wolf to attk it, i just keep moving . Its also use full if 3 thievs are arround u, u have goot chance of being killed, use wolf to keep 1 occcupied and takeout the rest urself. Also can be used to avoid giants on the way when trading which eat hp of trans.

Edit:
For buying it, u can either buy a 20+ wolf for 1 mill+ or a lvl 1 frm stable.
U will find that lots of ppl sell it for 1.3-1.8 mill.
I think buying from stable is better, i made my wolf lvl 20 in few hrs, just
soloing. save the extra amnt for buying res potion for wolf.

This is wizardz view, but its sure helpful.

Hope this helps :)

thanks

perhaps if you played the game you would have seen the point

for str chars:
attack is weak so having a wolf is a damage bonus

for int chars:
they tank _and_ draw mobs for you

either way not sure how 1 mill spent on a wolf is money wasted (not counting res, but if you're carefull you can keep him/her alive)

wtf is that suppose to mean, and i stand by my statement that they are useless for int charaters. i would rather 1 nuke kill or nuke lion shout to kill than have my stupid wolf run around gathering and tanking mobs for me, seems very ineffcient to me. (perhaps thats why ur not 80 yet  )

i know the forum rules i would be about to break if i said what i mean to say. So ...

How is a wolf not usefull when he takes 50% + of the damage you would be recieving without one

How is a wolf not usefull when he can consistently line up mobs for you to one shot

Sry i'm not lvl 80. In fact I am lvling my second char slower than a snail because I have more fun with a group than solo grinding takla for hours n hours n hours n hours n hours n hours

Just to be quite clear on this, while leveling, for nukes:
You are ranged attack, your dog is not
You use range attack on one mob, your dog runs out, attracts all the other mobs, tanks them while you get around to one shotting them, comes back and pants at ur feet.
The only times this doesn't work is if there are lots of ranged/mag attack mobs nearby, and/or your wolf is too low level to tank

It definitely useful to me.

He can solo a scorpion a lvl 32 and thus free me to kill all the evil flowers.

I had spent about 600k to resurrect it since i bought him from stable, so i suggest u save a bit more before u buy him.

still slower than: while nuking one mob, u are targeting the next and so on, always planning ahead, works best when u dont 1 hit, than u can use splash damage from flame wave wide to kill multiple mobs, my wolf just sits there passive watching everything

if youd turn him off passive you wouldnt have to worry about one shots. If the mob survives the nuke most likely the wolf would finish it anyway. I never use mine to tank, frankly i try to avoid it taking damage lol, but very usefull for tacking on damage IMO.
Also CareBear not being lvl 80 means nothing.
When it comes down to it duration spent experiencing a games nuances pawns character lvl anyday. There are plenty of lvl 40s with more experience + physical gametime thus are less noobish than your typical lvl 80 nowadays

true in theory, but in practice wolf still helps. Unless ur in the caves it helps to let ur wolf finish while you find new mobs.

well said

major prob with this game imho. The only skill needed is nice gear and high lvl, both of which can be bought with cash.

Bring on the 5 lvl either side job gap ^^

PS let ur wolf take damage, it's cheap, can save ur life, the higher u get the more appealing 50k is vs a death penalty
