Pure STR already has a high physical defense so you don't need ice and since your pure str you don't need to worry about dying. So you will want fire to make you more powerful also get the buff that increases magical defense so you will have high physical and magical defense. :D

gotcha

Your supposed to use lightening for an INT based build...

Bicheon / Light

or

Heaksul (I don't know how to spell that) / Light

Chinese is set up so you can use anyone force with any weapon and it should works.....Ice contains phy def buffs for Ints, Fire contains Mag def buffs and Str buffs for STRs and Lightning can be used well with either build....

Full str glaive Lighting is ok......so that kinda de-bunks your theory

A. Unfortunately we cannot reveal the final level cap, but I can tell you that mastery levels will remain at 300.

you dont need 2 get a weapon mastery

you can be a true pure nuker...
and get 2 force skills OR

get a force.... and the force masteries

it would be stupid to try and be a nuking healer....low health no defense=terrible healer.....

Do you have something against my build? :x (look at my sig)

I think too many people underestimate the force tree, especially vital spot. The damage difference after a successfully vital spot is amazing.

I think getting lighting is better. If you got fire, you have no phantom or grasswalk. Which makes your char pretty useless.

+1 archers main advantage speed and lightening fast shooting, with fire if a person gets to you or euro gets to you your gone if you don't move fast. Especially warriors with iron skin on.

So does that mean that the game will eventually boil down to everyone running around with only one weapon mastery and one force mastery?

That sounds boring as hell. :?

The different skills in the different trees are there to help make a balanced character. Just because you will be able to take masteries to 150, is that going to be the "only" way to have an effective character?

I'd like to think, as one still trying to level his first character to 40, that enough players will still want to have characters that are actually "fun" to play and are capable of using a variety of skills.

The hardcore, power-gaming, button-mashers can have their dull, 2 mastery characters, but hopefully enough players will still consider balanced characters for the sake of having something interesting to occupy their time in the game.

If not, then I can't see this game holding much interest in the long run. Which is sad, because I like it. Cool characters, armor, effects, skills, environments... it's addicting. But, if you have to keep shaving your character down, getting rid of skills and masteries to level up....

WTF good is that?

:(

Well I would love to see a nuker without the Magical Buff increase...they would get owned.

Yeah but a nuker pure int (sword shield) for example needs bicheon to stay alive, you need the KD and shield BR increase. That would be funny to see a sword shield nuker without the bicheon mastery

Jm hopes it would breed more diversity in builds... The sad thing is, this might only be true for hybrids, but I believe that a lot of people would probably not totally max one mastery to get a tiny bit of another...

Examples:
-Pure str, any weapon-
Most would assume that as a pure str, at the 150 cap [if that even is the cap... I've heard 120 or 140 as being the max caps, but we'll assume 150 cap for the sake of this argument] you would use fire and your weapon tree. You would obviously want to max your weapon tree out to 150, because every mastery level that you shave off yields you 1% less damage. Fire on the other hand doesn't necessarily need to be maxed. Having just fire and heuksai makes you slow as hell [unless you buy drug of winds, or have a euro accompany you], so some glaivers might opt to sacrifice a bit of fire for light, while others might sacrifice a bit to obtain ice for a low level mana shield.

-Pure int/Heavy int hybrids-
Pure ints probably have the biggest choice when it comes to diversifying. The much needed mastery here, and the one that pretty much needs to be maxed would be lightning. You'd get your imbue, magic dmg increase, nukes, and speed from this tree. The second tree would be completely up to the user. You could go heuksai, for the nice hp passive [which I assume at the 150 cap would be quite nice] and for stuns and gsming. You could go sword for insane block, shield defense, kd skills and the chains. You could go ice for the insane physical defense, the ability to freeze oponents [there will be a lot of people that need to sacrifice fire... ie. no immunity ^^], and ofcourse mana shield. Then you also have fire, for the immunity, magical defense, and higher damage [although the 90 light nuke does more then the 90 fire nuke... if this trend continues, light might end up being the highest damage force tree]. You could ofcourse also splash... Get a bit of weapon, a bit of ice, and max light. [What I think be a good choice would be 150 light, 120 weapon, 30 ice. The weapon tree would be high enough to dish out good damage, the ice would provide a decent mana shield, and the light is obviously there to yield you most of the damage. It's probably the build I'm looking for at the 150 cap for my hybrid spear int.] And oh, pure int/hybrid int will probably also be the only build that could 'succesfully' pull off using force.

Anyways, I think the 300 mastery cap will be much more interesting and be the cap 120, 140, or 150 I know what I'll do... the question is what everybody else will do.

[lvl 90 = 90 ice, 90 light, 90 heuksai, lvl 100 = 100 ice, 100 light, 100 heuksai, lvl 110 = 110 light, 110 heuksai, 80 ice, lvl 120 = 120 light, 120 heuksai, 60 ice, lvl 130 = 130 light, 130 heuksai, 40 ice, lvl 140 = 140 light, 130 heuksai, 30 ice, lvl 150 = 150 light, 120 heuksai, 30 ice]

2... Euro's gain 2 mastery lvl to their total every level. So at lvl 150, they too would have 300 mastery total.

I disagree. Snow shield at 50% damage reduction, in effect doubles the hp of a pure int, even if for 2mins, more than enough to enable a pure int s/s to tank in that time.

Right now, a pure int having both bicheon and ice masteries will be superb in pvp, but at higher caps pure int chars are forced to take two masteries. Since lightning tree will be the main (has nukes and a mag atk buff), taking bicheon as a second tree will probably be a mistake just from the information we have now (ice would be a better option for defense) pending of course more detailed information of the skills we will be getting at 150 cap (eg bicheon passive + shield br giving a total br of 50 or greater will be insane).

Sheesh....str are in a pickle...if you don't take light, how are you going to fend off ints that have light? They'll ghostwalk in, nuke, and ghost out. What's ghostwalk gonna be at 150 cap, like 200 meters? Hell, they could hit you pvping outside of dw and ghostwalk halfway back to jangan before you hit them.

My build's set til the 100 cap (Fire/Light/Heuk) after that, will have to see what's more important - being able to hit a target hard, or being able to catch a target to hit. :(

Beyond 100 cap thinks start fading away IMO. Insanely hard to level and hard to construct a balanced, powerful build, without doing any compromise.

I think it's part of their business model to get people to want to use skill refund potions from the Item Mall to delevel all those trees that will become "weak."

It's stupid... they are forcing people to abandon perfectly good skills because everyone wants to be powerful enough to stand up to others who don't care if all they have is two trees. I LIKE the fire nukes! They look cool... I want to be able to use both lightning and fire nukes, like I am now on my s/s hybrid.

I may end up just taking my character to level 70 just to say I did it, then walk away from the game.... like others that I know have. :( I can't see this being very interesting, let alone any fun. But, for now, it's amusing entertainment. I'll enjoy the ride before it goes to hell in a hand basket.

At least for 4 more weeks, since I just became a paying player and bought a squirrel. :D

i love it :)
2 masteries
:)

will make the game much more challenging
especially for people with chinese characters

ratios will also become a neccesary element in the game.
and the academies true purpose will shine like the SUN!
euros will have to party, just pwrlvling wont get the job done.

also the addition of the islamic civilizations will only change the game more.

I CANT WAIT :)
it will be a whole new experience for SRO in general

FOS 2.0 anyone?

Ok... so convince me. I like this game enough to stick with it and adapt to the changes. I did plenty of that with Guild Wars.

Why would two masteries be a good thing? I've got two Chinese characters and really no interest in starting a European character. I've always wanted to do an Ice Glaive character and when I asked about that around a year ago, everyone said ice was weak, don't do it, you'll suck... for glaive you NEED fire... blah, blah, blah. How times change. My second character (Heuksal Hybrid) is only lvl 29 and has fire and ice, so leveling ice is still a reasonable option.

What ratios are you refering to? I've been gone since before the updates, just getting back into it. How will the academy shine?
