depends on the size of the hard drive and its speed, a newer sata hard drive 300 gis, takes about what 30 minutes, but unless you are prepared to loose everything, or make back ups of everything you want to keep, docs, music what ever, i woudln't recomend just formatting, plus you'll need to have a copy of windows on disk handy to reinstall it, if you do you and you have backed up everything you wanted, just pop in the disk reboot, and boot from the disk, go thru new install and some where along the line it asks you if you want to format the drive first just say yes.

but one problem that can occur is if you don't have all the drivers for your hardware on disk near by, you'll have to go online and try to download them,

You know there is a option called "EDIT" which brings you to a screen to edit your post instead of make a new reply.

It probably is I'm not sure just do a scan of everything.

you are on a differ computer right no correct, if you can download, say knoppix and burn a copy, then boot that computer using it, you'l have an operating system running off the cd, just copy the files you need to keep, to another disk or a usb storage, or you could hook up the hard drive in another computer and go thru it like that

Oh dear, impatient kiddie just wants to play Silkroad.

Get an older family member to translate what you're trying to say into understandable descriptive English. It helps if they stand next to you and dicate to you exactly what to write. Also you might want to try computer help forum.
