true...also added to the fact that there selling the new rumble controller
by itself..so thats £400 for a console+controller+game and another £30 for
a controller that can rumble...wow and i wonder why sony are doing badly.

^ just stfu you made a mistake and got called out stop making lame excuses

OT: The PS3 lost alot of its exclusive stuff. Right noe the only guaranteed exclusive franchises they have are GT and FF (KH too i guess) those are their big ones. They lost GTA, DMC, MGS (is pending imo cause Konami wants to do it), And alot of Developers are releasing games that were ones slated to be PS3 only on the 360 as well. By the time the system really picks up in its sales it'll probably be to late. We've reached the point in console gaming where better graphics are becoming harder and harder to define so ppl are starting to buy consoles based on content. Right now 360's got a bigger library and the best online feature to date. Nintendo's Wii is still at the top and if going to probably pick up major sales around the holidays when they release their fall line up. PS3 is still riding on "its might maybe be worth buying someday probably"

Besides the controller thing you should do a post on the TGS, i'd rather read a nice summary by you can sift through 5 different sites to get the whole story

Halo 3's first-day US haul = $170M

A report Tor Thorsen, GameSpot

Thought the Halo 3 hype onslaught was over? Think again. After promising that the Xbox 360 exclusive's first-day launch would be huge, the software giant wasted little time in saying so. Today, the company announced that by its estimates, first-day sales of Halo 3 totaled $170 million in the US alone, $45 million more than Halo 2's 2004 debut.

The staggering figure presumably came from Microsoft's internal estimates, as it did not name a source for the data. Microsoft reps also had not clarified whether or not the figure was solely at physical retail stores or also included sales of the game from online retailers. "We only know the number is $170 million," said a rep.

If proven accurate when the NPD Group releases its sales figures next month, the number would give Halo 3 the honor of having generated more money in 24 hours than any other American entertainment property ever. The $170 million haul would also best Spider-Man 3's $151 million domestic theatrical opening weekend and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' first-day US sales of an estimated 8.3 million copies at a range of price points. (At the book's full hardcover price of $34.95, that number would have generated $290 million.)

$40 Blu-ray Warhawk swooping into retail

Report by By Tom Magrino, GameSpot

During this year's Game Developers Conference, Sony confirmed rumors that Incognito's long-in-development revival of the classic PlayStation arcade air fighter Warhawk would completely forgo a single-player mode. With its nontraditional offering, much speculation arose around how Sony would handle distribution of the multiplayer PlayStation 3 game.

A few weeks before Warhawk landed to a warm critical reception, Sony answered those questions by announcing two different SKUs for the game. Warhawk could either be downloaded through the PlayStation Network for $39.99, or aspiring flight commanders could pick up a tangible copy coupled with a Bluetooth wireless headset for $59.99 at retail outlets.

In Canada the retail at bestbuy was always $40. I was so happy when I found out.

Bungie and Microsoft officially spilt

By Emma Boyes, GameSpot UK

Rumors have been bubbling over the Internet cauldron all week that Bungie would be jumping ship from its corporate masters at Microsoft. The rumours seemed unlikely to be true, as Bungie has been wholly owned by the Microsoft machine since 2000.

Today, though, the unlikely became reality. This morning, Bungie announced it was officially splitting away from Microsoft to become an independent, privately held developer, Bungie LLC. Microsoft will continue to retain a minority stake in Bungie, and continue its long-standing publishing agreement with the company.

"While we are supporting Bungie's desire to return to its independent roots, we will continue to invest in our Halo entertainment property with Bungie and other partners, such as Peter Jackson, on a new interactive series set in the Halo universe," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios.

Bungie will remain in its current location in Kirkland, Washington, and will retain its primary focus on Microsoft platforms. Harold Ryan, Bungie's studio head, commented, "This... will enable us to expand both creatively and organizationally." Ryan also stated that the studio would continue to work on Halo, and "beyond."

Bit late now. Microsoft bought them out during the development of halo and get rid of them once the trilogy is over ¬_¬.

The games probably would of been alot better if microsoft never got involved. And macs would have had more new games on them.

the article says Bungie is leaving microsoft not Microsoft is kicking bungie

also from my understanding Bungie had pretty much full rein on what they wanted to do with Halo if anything joining Microsoft probably gave them access to more resources so i don't see how the games would've been better if MS didn't get involved. And Macs aren't for games.....

Microsoft made deadlines and made bungie rush things. Halo 2 wasnt really finished properly when it was released. And macs arnt for games because microsoft bought out bungie, who loved macs.

All publishers put pressure on development. Otherwise nothing would ever get done. And i don't think Halo 2 was rushed because even Bill Gates had to go back and correct himself when he gave a release date that Bungie didn't feel comfortable with.

Funny, I've been congratulating some MS XBox people I know over the last week about the success of Halo and their response has been subdued. I guess it makes sense now.

And Kids, listen to Xemnas: the suits always gotta ride the creative types or your games would all be Daikatana. Never try and run a company without suits.
