I have yet to hear or read of annyone having this problem.

The sro client will not stay open.

ive tried getting help from the official site and from other tech sites, but no luck whatsoever.

I dont even know where to start.

to start off I can tell you what problem(s) I dont have.

-I "can" fully install the whole sro client with out a problem.
-I do "not" have the "no start button problem"
- I have played sro on this pc before.

ok so this is the story. I was ona wireless network before, I connected to the internets with and linksys adapter. the main pc with the cable and router modems where in another room, anyways, everything worked fine, internet, sro coneected fine, no problem connecting no bugs (really).

Now I recently moved out, there is only 2 pcs including mine where imat now. the other one (pc1) has the router and the cable modem, so im connecting through the same adapter still. So I hook my pc (pc2) arrange the whole network thing to get online, I hit the sro launcher to play, and I see the launcher (/splash screen/) coem up, then 1.5 seconds later dissapears. I think ok wtf, trey again this time i see NO launcher, just my mouse curser turning into the the little hour glass, (as if its working to do something you know) then it stops and nothing.

I restart my pc, try again the "exact same thing happens"
(NOTE: at this point there has been no changes to my or pc or launcher, from when I "could" connect and play)
Im not really worried, I just simply download the client again, uninstall and re-install. absolutley no prolem UNINSTALLING or INSTALLING, everything goes smooth, and guess wht, same EXACT thing happens, first time i click onthe launcher, it comes up for less then 2 seconds adn then dissapears, NO ERROR windows, NOTHING.

that was more then a month ago. This is what i haev done/tried since then.

-re-downlaoding the client, from EVERY SITE, inclding u toorent, not just once but at least 6 diffrent times from each site, and from each server.
I install and the EXACT same problem.

- Ive dissabled my firewall. :banghead:
- downloaded the manual patch, does not work, the only time i get an error window.
- I cant think of what else ive tried, but ive treid many many things.

Now the only thing I can think of is to reformat my pc which I cant since I dont have my windows cd

Im runing windows xp
obviously I meet all the requirments since sro worked before I moved and made no changes to it.

if ive missed some info you need, jus ask.

I think my problem lies in my connection, I have the same Ip as the the the other (pc1), I only know this because I got banned from my favorite site (from pc2) and now (pc1) is also banned, but it still dows not make sense to me since I was connectiong to sro on the same type of network.

me runing on an adapter and another pc supplying the connection, also i fogot to mention, before I moved there where 6-8 pcs connecting online onthat network and 2-3 of them played SR.

I will try anything (relating to thsi problem )

thank you for your time, and apologize for the lencgthy post, but I needed to expalin everything.

I had the same problem, found out that ISRO didn't worked because the language settings of my computer were on Chinese. Same problem with other languages. Switched it back to English and it worked.

My name is Ru Yi. :3

EDIT: In this case, a long post is only good. Too many times it occurs that someone gives too little information. :)

no good updated withthe SRO site and updated myself same exact problem.

Also I did forgett o mention this, I was curious as to what was happening when I opened the launcher, so I open up my windows task manager (CTRL+ALT+DELETE), and when I clicked on the launcher nothing came up on applications, but in "PROCESSES" I saw that the launcher did come up, but did not stay on.

I mean upgrading your video card drivers from the manufacture's website. You probably have either an ATI or NVidia graphics card, if you're not sure what you have go to Start, Run, then type dxdiag, click on the tab that says display and it will tell you the model of your video card. Then find the latest drivers for that video card from the manufacturers website and install them. I hope this helps let me know if it works.

i dont think its the connection, but get your own IP to rule that out, that may or may not be it. that doesnt even make sense to me but whatev lol.

so, get your own ip. also, try swapping the adqapter out, update the adapter drivers, get a connection utility to check your connections stability, maybe netstumbler.....

something has changed since the last time you ran sro. find out what these are, and eliminate them one by one as the problem. if the only thing thats changed since then is the number of pc's and the host pc, then try hosting it on your pc instead of pc1. try not using the router and do a direct wired connection. those sort of things. let me know.
