S/S: Garment or Armor?

My character currently wears armor, but I'm thinking about switching to garment. Does the physical defense of my shield enough to compensate if I switch to garment? Or is the magical defense that I get from garments excessive or even unnecessary?

Or someone might enlighten me about protectors.

i use a garment set for killing monsters and use armor when pvping

i think of protector as more of a hybrid's gear

Well, what does it seem like you have a hard time with and what do you have an easy time with.

With my pure INT I actually hoped to pvp pure STR chars cus my armor was so good, but any farmed INT character could rape me. So, if you are having a hard time with INT chars and STR ones seem easy to defeat, then go garms or prot.

This is my opinion if you are 77+

I use garmet at lvl 79, even during PVP. If you pimp it to the max, get max BR shield, and know when to use your +phys defense 15 second shield buff and Mana shield in battle, then your armor is irrelivant.

its actually what im planning to do since I wont max fire but ic einstead, so i,ll wear garm instead og prot = max speed is nice in pvp

yup

when used effectively you can win5+ lvls higher than u

im a hybrid nuker 61 and defeated a 66 glavier in garms(tho i had zerk) but without the mana shield and ironwall shield id be dead before i could get second nuke off

prolly before you could even fire you first lol..and tbh, even with zerk that glaive had to have pretty bad gear/really underfarmed to loose from a 61 hybrid nuker hehe (no offense)...

I could kill lvl 64/65 noob ints with my lvl 62 int nuker, but I have good gear so lol...its about the gears and a bit about the skills IMO

garms are tempting because of the speed boost and also superior mag def...which comes into play when fighting mages/shaman.

I guess it depends mostly on whether you are able to pimp your gear. I'f you can max blu str/parryratio and atleast +4 your set then you will be ok regardless of what set you choose. gamrs may even be a good choice.

protector to like 6-7d, then change to garmet

NO DON'T GO GARMENT, u have a hella load of magic def, every build focuses on covering their weak spots, and the nuker's weak spot is low physical defense, hence u need armor regardless on wut u want to do in either pvp or pve, trust me!

Garment .... u can tank str ppls easy with snowshield

used to beleive that armor was the only way for pure ints.

my build is light ice spear. i will be soon losing all my fire hence losing mag def buff. garm is a good choice for my build.

jobbing especially during those quick runs to special bargain trade points invovles a lot of running around. for pure ints, it reqires a whole lot more, i think this is where garm shines the best.

you can still go armor if you're fighting a pre str in DW south, but then i have my snow shield to protect me, it's enough.

armor is smexy, though.

,I job,pvp,war all in garment and sure its not the best against phys but snow shield can help.Not only full str wear garment >.< All down to personal preference tbh

Yah im a 75 s/s full int I <3 my garms if you use your snowshield it makes up in the lack of phys defense

I'm assuming you are pure int s/s, as hybrid s/s can tank better so you wouldnt have a problem going prot or garms.

The problem with pure int s/s isnt their low phy defense, but their low hp. I have both garm set, armor set (and some prot pieces) and tweak my equips to fit the occasion. This is excessive btw, but the point I'm trying to make is I do this to maximize my defense, just to compensate for my lack of hp (currently pure int s/s lvl 80 with 10k hp). So your choice of equips doesnt really matter. It gives you pros and cons either way. Just know your limitations :/

I agree, shield + snow shield can really make up for any low defense you may have.
