Well, my mobo died, and since its impossible to tell if the mobo or the cpu died, i bought a new mobo, cpu, and a graphics card to fit the new mobo. Ever since then, sro likes to freeze on me. The display freezes but sro works fine. I can move through town, teleport, talk to npcs, do everything (with some luck) but the screen will still be frozen. I am forced to use the taskmanager to close sro, and then afterwards, every time i try to open a new client, i get the stupid question mark error. Every time i press the start button, instead of game guard, or the sro splash, i get the "??????" error.

I am quite sure that this is a graphics card problem, however have not been able to resolve it yet. My specs are as follows:

Yes I've updated my drivers for the new mobo, and graphics card. I even updated Directx9, however i still get the note you see in the pic.

Other solutions:
-for a similar problem with 3d games, it was suggested to change my AGP drive from 8x to 4x, however that only resulted in an obvious graphics error when i went into sro cuz the textures were like paint..
-It was also suggested to turn fast write off, which i did, and to no change.
-The power plug from my power supply to the graphics card is tight, and not connected with anything else, just a direct line between supply and card.
-All fans are working, i assume the card is not overheating because a simple restart and i can log onto sro for another 30-60minutes before a freeze.

any ideas?

ya i reinstalled sro, nothing changed. My power supply is a cx-series 550W Coolmax.

A while ago, i changed my graphic drivers to an older version, 93.71, and so far all seems stable. Only one ???? crash but it wasnt a freeze and i was able to open the client again without restarting. .71 is said to be one of the more stable versions, so hopefully this works out, otherwise...im thinking i should send the card back to the manufacturer for a replacement.

yea keep with that, sometimes that seems to work if all else fails is to use a older stable driver as you have stated, cause this is probably some complex issue with it that would be hard for anyone around here to solve, good luck tho :)

it seems i spoke too soon.....freeze on teleport to hotan. However i could still go into stalls, i found the teleporter at one point, and some npc (could see my cursor changing). And when trying to open a new client it gave me the error.

My last option i guess, a clean install of windows XP and go from there, maybe something is conflicting on my comp :S if that fails....time to get a new card :(

btw, a video card diagnostics gave me this:

dont know if it helps at all, but just throwing it out there. Thnx for looking at it, even though it seems to be a hopeless problem that not even the Nvidia forums has given a definitive answer on :(

Have u checkd on Device manager to c if there is any driver conflicts for ur VIDEO CARD ??

Go to START > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM > HARDWARE (Tab) > Device Manager (button).
In the device manager screen, do u c any devices having a Yellow Ques Mark ( :?: ) or a Yellow exclamation Mark ( :!: ) ??

If yes, it means the device might work fine, but the drivers to supporting the hardware isnt installed properly...

Gud luck..
