The Beginning
•You must be lvl 20 like all jobs.
•You must get your thief suit, which you can purchase in thief town.
(to get to thief town, go to the south western part of Janang, behind one
of the buildings is the NPC Geisha Yumi who will transport you for 2000 to thief town.

Intro to a Thief

Thief job is not the easiest one. In fact, it's probably the most difficult job in silkroad. But if you know what you are doing and use extreme caution, you can become a well-built thief. The main purpose of a thief is to kill hunters and to steal from merchants. Hunters and merchants are your enemies so be warned that once you have dressed in your thief suit they are allowed to kill you (except in towns). Thieves are usually found at merchant check-points such as bridges and ferrys waiting to attack an unsuspecting merchant or hunter that crosses their path. But keep in mind that you shouldn't be as open as hunters and merchants. Hunters usually roam around in their hunter suit looking for thieves, but as a thief it is wise to stay concealed and until the right time to put your thief suit on. You'll never know when a hunter will pop-up and attack you. Thieves are allowed to attack monster thieves but are not allowed to kill other thieves. If you are a thief and attack another thief it will count as a murder and you will become red. When you kill hunters and merchants or steal goods from merchants you'll recieve thief job experience which you try to accumalate and lvl your theif job. Remember you cannot attack merchants who are on a 1 star trade. This means that merchants are safe from being attacked by thieves but can carry less goods. If you kill a merchant on a 1 star trade it will count as a murder and you will become red. It is also best when attacking a group merchants, to be in a group of thieves. You won't stand much of a chance if you solo a group of merchants. You will also need to run away alot so it's best to have a move like Grass-walk to increase your movement speed.

Thief Tasks
1. Hunt hunters. A hunters job is to kill thieves and protect merchants, but thieves are also allowed to kill hunters for thief exp.

2. Thief Parties. You can party with other thieves and perform different tasks as a team. You'll soon find out that this makes a thief job a lot easier and funner.

3. Stealing from Merchants. The most important job of all is to intterupt a merchant's job by stealing his goods that shit he transports. This task is sort of confusing and takes practice for getting used to it. Like I said before you CANNOT attack merchants on a 1 star trade. The game will tell you when a merchant is on a 1 star trade or not. If you find a Merchant who is not on a 1 star trade you want to prepare. First you want to be aware who is traveling with the merchant and make sure he doesn't have any hunters following him. Once you've scanned the area, it's best to start attacking the merchant's transport (camel, horse, etc...). Once the merchant notices which wont take long, you as a threat he may attack you or keep moving. If he attacks you than you should attack him back. This is the part where you KILL the merchant and is totally up to you. Once you have killed the merchant and his followers you must kill his transport(s). After you kill a transport it will drop items such as horseshoe, vase and other materials. In order to pick up these materials you MUST have a carrier transport with you (camel, horse etc...). A red horse or shadow horse will not pick up these items. You cannot enter town once you have these goods so you MUST use a thief town return scroll that you can purchase from thief town. While riding your transport you can activate the return scroll and move around during the countdown of the scroll. Remember that NPC thieves will be attacking you also. Once you made it to thief town, desposit your goods with the theif NPC to recieve your thief experience and some gold.

Remember it is wise to let a merchant go if he/she has good backup and he/she is high level. You can always check their lvl by what weapons they are holding and what armor they have on. Usually if they have hunters they are probably a high level so you should have backup. Before the job have the beserk mode ready because u will need it sometime along the course of looting the merchant.

Got most of the info from a friend from another forum.
Hope you guys like it.

Thanks very much. Lots of people seemed to be looking for a guide but there wasn't any. Hopefully this will help. :)

Also feel free to add anything else to this guide.

The trader lvl is just the level of their job not how many stars they're doing. If you push "C" it'll show you what lvl and % your jobs are at too. 2* traders usually have 2 npc thieves chasing them and sometimes 1* but that's pretty rare...

You cant. The only way to find out is to pop your thief suit and click on it. If it attacks then your good to go, if not then RUN AWAY! :D The other way to find out is to follow the trade and see how many thieves spawn.
Quote:
1 Star = 1 NPC Thief
2 Star = 2 NPC Thief
3 Star = 3 NPC Thief
4 Star = 4 NPC Thief
5 Star = 6 NPC Thief

It is probably 5 thieves for 5 star but for some reason I tend to get 6 a lot! Also, there are double spawns which spawn twice as many. So, if you see 2 thieves spawn it could be a 2 star OR it could be a 1 star double spawn, so watch out.
