Hey, guys.
Before you yell at me, yes, I did search, and yes, I did read through all the Rogue Guides. Unfortunately, there's only one Rogue guide, and although it's superbly written by my fellow Giraffe-Unitter XemnasXD, I still want to ask this question to verify:

Would it be unwise to take Warlock as a subclass for my new Rogue? Keep in mind that I just came back to playing SRO, so no fancy lingo on me. In his guide, Xemnas just stated that the... debuffs, whatever they are, would make you a deadly PvPer.

Is that true? Everybody I ask tell me to either go with Cleric or Bard. "Don't go Warlock", they say.

So? :]

Thanks for your help!

(Oh, and if someone could also answer this question - are Rogues any good at soloing? If I solo, should I be soloing on mobs below my level, above my level, or just my level?)

Warlocks for rogues are BIG no, because your power is stealth and crossbow extreme(assuming crossbow rogue), so are you gonna switch to rod, losing stealth, debuf, while he will 1 most likely 1hit you, and change back to crossbow?

About soloing, yes rogues are good at soloing, again assuming you are talking about crossbow rogue, can kill 5+ lvl higher mobs, but if giant appears near, run like crazy, or most likely die

ZOMG why didn't you search.... j/ping of course

I don't have too much direct experience with rogues but IMO warlock doesn't have much of a place on a build that relies on high damaging hits for pvp. If you try debuffing w/ xbow, you will loose a good amount of your range advantage. In order to cast the debuffs and for dagger, well you will lose your element of surprise if you prefer to stealth + use prick on people, which from what I seen in videos is a deadly combo. Also what's true for both weapons is the switching weapons process may slow you down quite a bit in between casting debuffs and switching to your main weapon. Some builds, like 1h warrior, have an easier time doing this because both weapons use shield.

Also don't forget, you don't have to get a sub class if you don't wish to.

going back to sro fena?!

well for soloing i found it pretty simple for my rogue, use xbow and a pet.
let the pet aggro the mob and shoot away :D
(or just 1/2 shot the mob  )

Don't know about the warlock. I was very interested in the build too, but choose to be cleric. The reason for that is, that even though warlock debuffs are great, you'll lose the element of surprise. So in cape pvp they will probably do well, but in jobs they'll probably loose.

About soloing, it ain't that hard. If you make sure you have a decent weapon you can kill mobs a few levels above you. (I'm having a lvl 21 xbow, no + or blue, while I'm at lvl 27 and I'm grinding on mobs lvl 26-28. With a lvl 26 weapon I could grind on lvl 29-30 mobs). Imagine what you could do with a sos weapon.

Great, thanks guys.
Damn Xemnas. Let me down. :[ Haha.

So... would it be better to go for Bard or Cleric now? Are there pros and cons to each?

be careful about soloing

even though rogue is full str, I die all the time and I dont get why that happens

obviously you should solo with xbow with xbow xtreme on. Intense management will let you grind on red mobs and you can get a lot of exp

but dont ever try party mobs

dont ever try 4 mobs at once because you will DIE even with XE turned off

thats why im making blader cause I dont wanna die >.<

(oh and your blade guide is great)

the best solo rogue if not the best solo Euro is a Xbow/Bard

daggers will have a hard time soling even with a bard subclass because they'll end up taking more hits with no KD or KB skills.

Afaik warlock is best for dagger rogues and works terribly for xbow rogues. I don't know that much about though i went with Dagger/Cleric and after i currently don't play. I'll try asking around for more info for ya.

No, it's fine.
Thanks, Xemnas, and the rest of you. :] Guess XBow / Bard it'll be for me then, until I get up to a higher level and switch to Daggers when I farm.

Do XBow Rogues do just fine in PvP? And how do Rogues do overall in PvP?

Kick ass in PvP whether your xBow or Dagger, just different style of play. But we're in SRO... sooo... Gear>Class.

From the Rogue tree you should learn everything, you will see in time that each skill has it's purpose

As for sub mastery, i personally think you should go with bard, honor ticket + moving march = 100% moving speed, it's insane. Also, noise is good, useful when grinding, keeps agros off your back, and whatever other skill you want.

IMO cleric isn't useful, sure, you get Blessed and whatnot, but your not suppose to be a tanker at all, your suppose to shoot them and run (bard helps with that, cleric doesn't)

Don't go hybrid, you don't get damage from int

Use crossbow for grinding, grind with crossbow extreme on, but for pt mobs and giants turn it off
Use daggers for pvp, but you can use both, daggers are better tho

One thing what i like abt rogue is their mobility is good. They have enough range to snipe the enemy and also have a fast attacking speed. So is whether to take bard sub or cleric sub, IMO both are great sub.

Offcourse solo xbow/bard is the best choice.

But as you most likely already know euro chars are not solo chars but party players. So teamwork is essential..Im Full NPC(gear) Xbow rogue, giants are not a problem when you know how to play your char. When Soloing Save Bless for giants and u can tank them easily. When in party play either be a full cleric like they love u to be or use your buffs on yourself on others...Except for speed,I love this combination.

I played a long time with my Rogue without a subclass and I died a lot. Now I got Bard as sub, I run faster and I can train save at aggro mobs 5 or 6 levels above me without being scared to die :P If a giant spawns on my head its just bad luck but with moving march and fast switching to shield I often survive it

Bard is best for PvE

@Selan,

Lol ur right.I do like Cleric more,Bless & recovery division(autopot) & all the sweet skills own Bard's tree by far in both pvp and pve(teamplay). The only downside is speed.

Im not sure about all of warlock skills but imagine this scenario..Ur a Rogue Dagger-Sub warlock..During pvp ur invisible(Stealth) and u cast sleep or long stun on somebody, during sleep cast a debuff or 2 and Do that Smexy Dagger Combo,Wont it be Ownage from hell?

Don't flame me lol, just came to my mind as a possibility.Be free to Rebut it So i know if its possible or not.

@bigbamboo - Not bad, you got your idea. But IMO, I would probably prefer to use only rogue weapons and that's only either crossbow or dagger or both, I don't like to switch weapon just to cast stun then switch back dagger immediately. That's IMO.

1) when you in stealth you cant hold a Warlock Rode, only dagg or xbow

2) anyway when you do a skill in stealth , stealth disappear

3) what if you dont sleep or stun the guy? your surprise effect is all gone, the guy see you and you're probably screwed by the time you switch to Xbow/dagger to defend yourself.
