No, saying US will not help protect Taiwan because it doesn't want to take China head on. But the dilemma is US has a treaty with Taiwan to protect it. So if US doesn't, all treaties with the US are basically worth crap.

Hrm... I think it's a fallacy of logic to compare the military power of the US with China simply in terms of troop numbers. The US has advanced its military to the point that it can wipe out China's military in a manner similar to a giant crushing an ant.

I suppose the reason you may think that the US's military is spread out thinly is that it chooses not to use it's advanced weaponry(for example using ground troops in Iraq instead of drones), but in the case of a full out war, I doubt they would hesitate at all.

We've talked about this before.

Don't forget the US can war as long as they want regardless of the cost. Thank our dynamic money printing mints. Sure our economy would go to shit, but we can fund anything military-wise.

Edit: So really the only thing stopping us is manpower. Reenact the draft and bam we have a super army to fight WW3.
