We all know that the Fire tree is the staple for any STR build - for the damage buffs, and the passive, as well as the Magical Defense Buff, which is a great asset to strength builds who have a lack of said magical defense.

However, as a Blader, I'm finding the Ice tree more, and more useful - and to be perfectly honest, the damage difference for a STR build, between Ice and Fire, just isn't that great to be noticible. And I'm L65, so it's not like I'm using L1, Book 1 of the Ice Imbue. Both Imbues are on Level 6 of the 3rd book, as I'm 9-gapping currently.
I'd like to be a healer/medic, as well as a heavy Tanker. Damage? Damage goes down the drain when you make the choice to be a Blader. All Bladers that have made it past 32 are ready and willing to accept the role of being a Tanker, and they are full well aware that damage is not one of their pros.
To quote myself :P -

fena wrote:
Bladers are notorious for "not being able to be killed, but not being able to kill a thing themselves." While the latter part of the quote is not entirely true, the concept that a Blader is not able to be killed, certainly, is. A Blader is not meant to be a heavy damage-dealer. It is meant to be a Tanker, being able to have mobs upon mobs, hoards upon hoards, of enemies attacking it at once, and be able to tank through it all, and kill them one by one, sometimes by knocking down an enemy, sometimes by their Chains – and look cool, with the flashy Chains, and the sexy blades, and shields, throughout the entire process.

Yes, I'm getting to my point now.
I'd like to be a Medic, and Medics don't do so well when they die right off the bat. Therefore, Ice would be invaluable to me, as well as Lightning - Lightning simply for the Grasswalk, and Ghost-Walk Phantom, as well as the Parry Buffs, and Ice for obvious reasons - mainly, the Physical Defense Buff, and the Imbue.
Fire? Fire, like I said at the very first, is a staple - and yet, Bladers' damage are so low anyways, an extra 10%-15% more damage isn't really going to make that much of a significant difference, as 17% might to a Pure INT Spear Nuker.

Would it be a bad idea to sacrifice Fire, for Force? Force, to be a Medic, and it'll only help me to be a heavier Tanker. Lightning I would consider an essential for PvP, as the lack of Ghost-Walk Phantom will make you look like a fool. Not to mention that a lack of what? 50-60% run speed increase with the Grass-Walk Speed will make you grind like a snail.

This is what my planned 70-Cap will look like:
http://bobtheveg.dyndns.org/SRO/Char_Bu ... file=33163

At L80, I'm thinking about going for:
80 Bicheon
80 Cold
70 Force (Rebirth Series, and Harmony Therapy works 10 Levels above you, if I'm not mistaken)
70 Lightning

On another note: I'm not exactly sure if this belongs in the C&S or not. I'm trying to start a discussion more upon dropping Fire, in favor of either Ice or Force, and perhaps even a discussion about a Healer build. Like it or not, maybe the surest thing in this entire thread that could be said is that we just don't have enough Healers these days in SRO.
However, if this is in the wrong section, please move it. C&S is just spammed with repetitive threads about "ZOMGOSH IF I WANNA TO MAKE A DUAL HARP 2H SWORD BUILD DO I GO PURE STR PURE INT OR HYBRID? WHICH EURO BUILD IS THE BEST?"
Seriously. :)

agreed

its tough to kill ice bladers, you usually freeze and die by someone else xD

since your not gonna kill anyone anyway, mine as well play a group role with the freezing ppl and healing, also the tank part :P

but it kinda sux if the guy your attacking is immune to ice...that means you just sacrificed 15% of your damage to do nothing.

like fena said you've already sacrificed your damage by choosing the blader build. kd+stab will always be useful if there immune.

Finally, some replies. :)
Now, I'm not normally the type of person to ask this, because I know that most of us here can't give a very clear answer, but I've been hearing that come the new skills with the Euro update, Ice Immunity is a thing of the past.
Any confirmation about this?

But that's just one more thing that I think may be a problem, and another reason why I'm posting this thread - with the lack of the Fire Tree, you'll be lacking the Flame Shield Buff.

it's rare for people to actually make a unique build, grats to you. too bad you don't play on my server, goodluck and have fun with the build 8)

edit:: about non ice immunity, the rumor about that is that at the 90cap ice immunity will be impossible.. being that in kSRO no one is ice immune. if sama reads this hopefully he can confirm this, I only heard it on SRT and im not 100% sure.

Alright. Thanks. :) I'll probably max it out after I've maxed out all my other skills. Won't be PvPing just yet.

No idea where it came from. At the time of posting it, I was using a computer that my sister, who uses MySpace, also used. Was saved into the My Pictures folder of My Computer, and while I was uploading some other stuff onto PhotoBucket, I saw it, and just uploaded it as well, hehe.

Anyways, Masta, lend me your expert advice! :P

Looks like a solid build through 80, especially with the new skills coming. One point of concern is the lack of fire shield from the fire tree, also puts you at the same disadvantage that you are trying to exploit in others - lack of ice resistance. You won't be at a disadvantage for damage, because you can use the Vital spot series in Force tree, which would work to lower opponent defenses so that you would hit them harder. :D

And like it was said above, if the flame shield begins to function as it was designed (effect reduction vs. the current % reduction), Ice will be that much more of a problem for many.

Good build, but just curious - will you continue the healer build and extend your masteries when the cap moves to 90? How will your build look at that point?

One thing i noticed is that you only got force to 70. The last level of res currently is at 69 (res up to 79) so if you wanna be able to res everyone, you will need force to 72 (res up to 82).

Looks quite similar to my build, but i kept fire and dropped ice. Once im farmed, it will be:
80 Bow
80 Light
72 Force
68 Fire

If immunity gets canned, im still undecided as to whether or not i will swap fire and ice, but time will tell i guess.

 Healers

An Ice Blade medic should be fine. The Force trees has those Skillz that lower parry ratio and attacking rating, supposedly they'll be devastating after the update....and Ice Bladers are the immortal build get a ice shield with good BR and you'll one hell of a medic....nice idea, i'd steal it but i hate ppl so why would i want to heal them :D

Reason why you're doing same dmg with ice is because of your fire buffs/passive. 15% is ALOT!

Str Ice blader healer is a great build.
I cant kill chinese but it kills all europeans due to their slow recovery speed of the HP. European doesnt have Fire Shield so Ice is the best force against them : nova + combo = 100% freeze o.o!!!
But note that anti-freeze drug exists!

This sounds like a cool build. The Ice tree is much cooler than the Fire tree, to be honest. The only problem I see with this build is the lack of magical defense, which is a very important part of being a tanker.

Not many people have Ice immunity, so have fun freezing the shit out of people. :)

wheras the imbue damage wont be that different, you''ll lose ALOT of damage.
the buff + passive gives you around 15% +phys dmg.
do you want to miss that?
