You don't need 8gb of ram.. And buy a better video card.. like hd4850 you can get it for ~150$ or 9800gtx.

[edit] oh yea.. and 1g of ram in video card is no better than 512mb. So don't pay extra for that.

That amount of RAM is overkill.

from what i read on 0x33 back then... if you have a 512mb video card, you can run about 8 clients before you get "Out of video memory" error which is a very self-explanatory error. with a 1GB video card, u can run 16+ clients smoothly.

8GB of system RAM will cause a LOT LESS data swapping between your hard drive and your RAM, so u can teleport to town instantly. reason why it takes people a long time for town to load is because they dont have much RAM at all.

my friend Death2All also has a Quad-core CPU with 8GB of RAM abd 1GB of video ram, and a 15K RPM scsi hard drive. he told me that 8GB RAM was the maximum when he built his PC which i think he told me cost a little over $3,000 but then again that guy is rich.

Seriously.. you could get so much more gaming performance just changing few parts. And i think that setup is way too expensive. At least get a better gfx card.

But hey.. it's your money :)

i was just about to post that till i seen you said it first. the chances are that he is not getting a 64bit os. 8 gb of ram is so over kill and pointless. it only takes 2 gb to run vista at its best and 1gb for xp.

i really don't think you could even use 8gb of ram up with anything other then opening 50+ programs or 10+ clients (not saying that's what you will use it for just a example)

if i were you i would from 5gb of that ram and get a really nice video card or maybe not cheap out on other parts of the system.
