v2-------------------------------------------------------------top 4 builds guide
Top 4 Builds Guide!
The top 4 builds were created after countless hours of trial and error, intense study of Korean play, and a lot of math work. Each build has a strength and weakness, but these 4 builds are miles ahead of any other combination. These 4 builds are the foundation for any player who has dreams of being a hardcore player. It is my duty and privilege to introduce them to all of SRO and to teach the new generation how to build there character and use it properly.
The Nuker:
The nuker is the main damage dealing build in the game. In a well balanced party they are responsible for dealing massive damage and taking out enemies from long range. They do very will in PvE, they do very well in wars, and they excel in dungeon combat. There one shortfall is in 1v1 PvP in which they are based on luck. A block of a nuke will be what tips the scale in the favor of the enemy. The nuker is also the fastest leveling build possible.
When we begin to build a nuker we must remember a few basic facts. The fire imbue is stronger and better then the lighting imbue. The fire nuke is also stronger, faster, and hits farther. We will be creating a duel nuker and fire will end up the main mastery. Lighting is the sub mastery and will be just as important to keep up. A lot of nukers go for lighting instead of fire as the main mastery. They end up quitting there character as soon as they begin to die, and there character does poorly in PvP.
When a nuker levels up, it is IMPORTANT to only put stat points into int. Some people want HP so badly they make the mistake of putting stats into str. They then end up with a weak nuker who can not deal damage, can not tank, and will just about suck in every way possible.
At level 150, which is the highest level possible, you will end up having to balance your masteries to get them to 300 without going over. The nukers main weapon will be both a sword/shield AND a spear. You need to get both sword and spear masteries up to 20, and max out all the skills up to 20. Your fire mastery will max out at 150, and your lighting will max out at 110.
When do you use a spear and when do you use a sword/shield? You use a spear when you can one hit a mob or a player. This will get you the most exp in the least amount of time. You use a sword/shield when you need to 2 hit mobs with both nukes. This will give you defense in between your nukes.
For skills nukers have it easy. They only go up to level 20 in spear and sword, and do not have a lot of skills to max there. For lighting they will max out just about every skill, so there is no guess work there. For fire they will max out every skill also, except the firewall skill which is useless.
The 3 Strength Fire Builds:
The strength fire builds are exactly what they sound to be. They are tankers. They deal less damage then the nuker, but can tank much more. They have more HP and do much better in PVP and 1v1 combat then the nuker.
Bow: The advantage of the bow build is the range. You can kill without letting the enemy get close to you. You deal extremely high damage for a strength build, and do very will when it comes to leveling.
Glaive: The advantage of the glaive is the high close range damage and the splash damage. You can kill anything around you, and you are hard to mob. You are very strong, and you deal high damage also.
Blade: The blade build is the weakest damage build around, but the strongest tank build possible. They are the slowest leveling build, but the best possible PvP build around. They can tank tons, and use less pots.
Masteries: A strength fire build, no matter which one, has the same mastery goal. The goal is 150 mastery in your specific weapon, 100 mastery in fire, and 50 in lighting. This way you can keep the weapon mastery maxed for maximum damage, the fire mastery high for great fire damage and buffs, and the lighting masters will also be at a good spot to give you great mobility.
Force Skills: The skills are simple for a fire strength build. In lighting you will want to max out the passive and the run. Lighting will max at 50 and will be an easy job just to max out these two skills. In fire you will want to max out all the skills except for the nuke and firewall.
Weapon skills: This is where it begins to get complicated. Each weapon has its own set of skills that work best. Some weapons such as blade have 3 skills that are needed, some such as bow have a large number of skills that are needed.
- A blade character should max out his passive and his combos. Both 4 hit and 5 hit will be the core of his build. They will help him level, help him PvP, and will be his basic skills.
- A glaive character has a harder time. He needs to max out his passive, and all the skills with a % over 200. These skills will be his basic attacking skills.
- A bow character needs to max out his passive, his range buff skill, his bird buff, anti-devil bow, 2 hit combo, strongbow, and any other skills he finds useful.
When it comes to you stat points, NEVER put points into int. You do not need it. You already do less damage then nukers, why lower your balance any more. Put all points into str. This is a must.

Grinding Guide!
Definition of Grinding: Leveling non stop using a proven system to out level normal players. Aka “Power Leveling”
The 1st thing u need to do it open up the options of SRO. Change the pick up hotkey to space bar. This will improve your grinding time a lot.
Advantage of a fast Run:
A fast run is one of the most important things when it comes to leveling. Let’s do some basic math. If it takes you 6 seconds (one imbue) to kill a mob, and 12 seconds to get to the next mob, that would mean that you get one kill every 18 seconds. What if you could cut down the 12 seconds of walking down to 6 seconds? You will level 33% faster. That right there is an incredible increase in leveling.
A good way to run really fast to a mob is to have flash-run. Then you select a mob, point over its head, and hit the flash-run hotkey. As soon as you begin to flash-run, hit your attack hotkey, and you will flash run, then begin to run at the mob, with no time wasted just standing there. This is also a great way to catch people running away from you in a job suit.
The Perfect Grind:
The perfect grind is a concept that allows players to have more focus and structure when grinding. A perfect grind is when you pot up, pill up, repair your equipment, then go out to level and stay there until your weapon durability reaches 6 and begins to break. This will give you something to look forward to every 2 hours, and you will know exactly when its time to go and repot. Each build has a different amount of pots they need to bring with them to archive the perfect grind. If you experiment with a few perfect grinds, you can find out the exact amount you will need to bring. This will cut down on shortages in pots or mp pots when you are out leveling. You will be able to stay out longer, and waste less time running to town. This concept allows players to level much faster and stay out much longer.
Green Mobs over White (Strength builds only):
For a strength build there are times when fighting green mobs is better for leveling. If you can kill a mob in one combo and 1 or 2 normal attacks, then that is an ideal way to level. The best way to gain EXP is to gain it at a fast rate. High exp/Long time is the same as low exp/low time. What you need to find is a place where you get average exp/low time. This will be the best place to level at.
One Shot (Int. builds only):
For an int build it’s all about the rate at which you kill. If you can one shot a mob with a nuke, then that is where you should level at. Find the highest level mob that you can one shot and you will find the fastest leveling place you can possible be at. Simple as that.”
v3-------------------------------------------------------------sp farming guide
I. Getting started
Okay, you have a new character and you want to do some farming before leveling up. The first thing that you should do is choose what kind of build you are going to do and calculate the amount of SP you need - you really won't want to farm 200k if your build only needs 100k.
Use the first two links to calculate how many SP points you need, then use the third to know how many SP you are going to get leveling with your planned mastery gap. Subtract this to the amount you need to know how many you are going to need to farm.
Example : I need 150 000 SP for a level 70 character. Leveling without a gap from 20 to 70 will get me 70 000 SP.
150 000 - 70 000 = 80 000 SP.
Thus I need to farm 80k.
Once you have done this, you now know how much SP you need to farm - the rest is about getting them as fast as possible.
To farm efficiently, you need a 9 level gap between your character level and your highest mastery. Accordingly you need to stop developing all your masteries at level 7.
II. Getting that SoX bow and equipment
To farm efficiently at the bandit stronghold you need a SoX bow level 16 + all you can get, however as every single silkroad forum advise every single wannabe farmer to farm at the stronghold with a SoX bow they sell for more than 5 million on Alps server, about 8~10 million for a +3. That is one hell of a lot of money if this is your first character. But without that kind of bow you will struggle to get anywhere so you need to get gold as fast a possible, while if possible getting SP. There is no easy answer, my personal advice for you is to farm young tigers with the best sword/blade/spear/glavie that you can afford and get as many Tiger Beard alchemy items as you can, selling the wind 2 elements for 2k each, you get 2 elements per item. I'll admit that it is really slow, but if getting rich was easy life wouldn't be so hard.
Now that you have got your SoX bow it is time to start farming - the harder you can hit bandit archers the faster it will be and the less people will want to try to KS you. Performing alchemy on you weapon is one way to do things, but it is expensive and random. You can however make a huge change to your attacking power by adding Str and Int blues to your equipment - and here is the magic : as you are level 16, most of your clothing and jewels will be 2nd degree and bandit archers drop second degree tablets of Int and Str as well as all the elements you need to create stones of Int and Str. Life can be good sometimes. You want to end up with Int 3 Str 3 on everything you wear. A level 16 full int character will one shot kill bandit archers with a Sos +3 bow and fire imbue if his equipment is nicely pimped. No point in paying 70 million for a SOM bow after all is there? Just make sure you keep all those level 2 tablets of Int and Str.
-> For a very good guide on enhancement alchemy, check out this guide (forum link)
I would really go for garment, whatever your build - and before anyone flames - here is why : if you 2 shot kill the archers they don't have time to hit you, you can kill all the archers in a single zone faster than they spawn. You will always need imbue, so the 20% mana reduce is important if you want to save money on pots.
Before you start farming, it is advised to develop two masteries, fire and bow (Pacheon) to level 7. You should now have a fire imbue (fire river 2), and two bow skills - you should develop these whatever character you are building - you hit harder with fire than any other imbue, and the bow skills will be useful against giants and champions.
-> Even if your planned character does not need these two skills develop them just to farm, you can delevel them later using a level 20+ quest
III. Party time
If you are new to silkroad online then you will need to read this - ingame, you have the possiblity of joining or forming a party, in other words a group of players working together. There are two main kinds of parties, one is set on "Exp auto share" and the other one is set on "Exp distribution", the difference between the two is not always clear to new players.
- "Exp auto share" means that the experience points and skill experience points are shared amongst members of the party. If two of you are in a party set on auto share, and you are both of the same level for each kill you make you both get half the experience plus a party bonus. The bonus is what makes the whole thing worthwhile. However, you both have to be in the same perimeter for it to work.
- "Exp distribution", as a farmer you should now start to pay serious attention! A distribution party is a party of four people maximum, you all receive the normal experience and skill points from you own kills - you get nothing from another member's kill. You also get a bonus amount of Exp and sp when you are in this party. You get a bit more every time someone joins, and you get the maximum bonus with 4 members. [This bonus is doubled with a gold ticket.] (to be verified)
So now you know what the different parties mean. Here is how to use the "party match" system so that you can always be a member of a party while you're farming.
First of all, you can form your own party, if you have a guild or lots of friends then this is probably the best thing to do, if not, I recommend joining an already formed party.
If you want to create a party :
1. Open the party window by pressing “p”. This is what you should have (the middle has been cut out for looks).
2. Click on “Set” and choose the party you would like to form. For farming, I recommend the illustrated setup- exp distribution-item distribution
3. You can then either invite somebody buy clicking on him and inviting him to the party or else you can join the party match system, by doing that you will be publicizing your party to the whole server – so that is what I recommend. Click on “party match."
4.Click on “form party” and you get this. It should be set the same too, if it isn’t you need to go back to the initial party window and set the party correctly.
5. The number on the left is what you should give your friends if they want to join the party. Parties are ranked by that number, so if you are looking for a party number they start low on page 1 and get higher as you move on to the next page.
Joining a public party :
So you are farming alone, and you would like the benefit of a party? Good choice, and you will not be the only one either. You can always create a party of your own, but often it takes a long time for the first player to join, and it is generally easier to join a half full one. Follow steps 1 to 3 for creating a party. You should now have a list of parties, you need to choose one of them, but not randomly : it must have a maximum of four members. Have a look at the last screenshot, the party created is in blue, and look at the second column from the right, it says ¼. That means that there is 1 member out of a maximum of 4.
Once you have found a party that fits the description, select it with the mouse and click on “join party”. If you successfully join the party, that is if the party leader accepts you, you can now start farming. If not, just pass on to the next party with 4 members and try again.
Remember ! You get maximum bonus when the party is full, so try to keep your party as full as possible. If you had 4 members in your party and one of them leaves, your party does not automatically join the party match system, you have to “reform” your party. To do that, just call up the party match system, click on “form party”, check that the settings are correct and click confirm. Your party has now rejoined the party match system.
IV. Deleveling - losing experience
While you are farming with a nine level gap between your character level and your highest mastery level you get a lot of skill experience points and a bit of experience points. The trouble is that to go from level 16 to 17 you don’t need that much experience, so in an afternoon of farming you will level to 17. DON’T put your masteries to level 8 to keep the nine level gap. You need to lose enough experience to go back to level 16, preferably to 3% of level 16.
You lose 2% per death, so you need to die 50 times to lose a level. It’s pointless to say that having someone to resurrect you is a big advantage. There are many ways to do it, here is how I do it. You need a friend with the resurrection skill at level 1 (you get only a little HP and exp back) and preferably with the harmony skills to. TP do Downhang (don’t set the return point, leave it a Jangan and save 5000 gold) and go to the south gate. Party with your friend so you can easily find each other in case you get separated, “exp auto share” if you have a gold ticket (explained below.) Go and find some place where there aren’t too many people and let the earth ghosts kill you. On a calm day, your friend just has to stay in the harmony circle, you stand just outside, when the earth ghost kills you, your friend can immediately resurrect you. Repeat as many times as necessary, until you have 5% of experience left at level 16, then respawn yourself at Jangan. And go back to the stronghold.
You can farm at the bandit archers until level 19, but at level 19 there is a sudden drop in exp and SP that you get from archers. I recommend going up to level 19 at least once so that you can add HP or Int to your character. You keep the extra HP and mana, the mana will be a real help.
If you don't have a guild and don't have any friends that can resurect you you are not lost. As you are a farmer you could be very usefull to a low level guild - for every SP you farm your guild gets a guild point, guilds need many guild points to level up. Offer them your GPs for there resurecting services
V. Gold tickets and monkeys
They are items that you buy using silk, you buy silk with real money via paypal or credit card on the official Silkroad Online website. I strongly recommend that you DO NOT try to buy silk for ingame gold for your own good. What these items do :
¤ a gold ticket, or "gt", is a scroll, once activated it gives you three hours of double sp and double exp during combat periods. So when you go killing archers, you get double sp and the ticket slowly runs out but if you stop killing things and go back to Jangan to stall then your "double sp time stops running out.) Time you don't use today will be transferred to tomorrow. Gold tickets last 24 hours or 28 days and cost 15 silk (1.5$ - 1.15€) and 130 silk (13$ - 10€) respectively.
-> There are a few tricks to know so that you don't waste your gold/silver ticket. Gold time counts down when you are fighting - but not in the same way depending on the mobs that you are attacking.
- Gold tickets activate when you attack something, once you stop attacking gold time runs for 20 seconds and then pauses.
- When mobs attack you, unless they are red, you gold time is activated. This is interesting because if ever you need to delevel during gold time, do not attack monsters and don't delevel on anything but aggressive red monsters and you will save your gold time for farming.
- In a party, set on experience auto-share, gold time stops. In a experience distribution party, [your gold ticket is active and it also doubles the party bonus your get.] (to be verified)
¤ a monkey, a squirrel or a rabbit is an immortal pet (mobs don't attack it) that picks up your drops and any other available items around you. It has it's own inventory, and you can transfer items from your inventory to your pet's inventory. Pets don't drop items when you die. Once activated it takes up 1 slot in your inventory and last 28 days - after that it expires. To buy a pet, it is 98 silk (10$ - 8€), to resurrect your pet it cost 48 silk (4.8$ - 3.7€)
A monkey is really a big help - you will see a lot of SP farmers chain killing bandit archers without grabbing their drops because it takes too long - your pet will not only grab your own money but also theirs - there is lots of gold to be made there. As for gold tickets, if you are planning on farming more than 50k and the bandit stronghold, if you can afford one don't hesitate.
If that is the case then here is some advice. While you are own "gold time" don't lose time picking up items, you really need to maximise those three hours a day by killing, killing, killing...
VI. Some numbers
First of all, the thing you want to know is how many SP will you be getting in how much time. This depends on a few parameters such as, pickup time, weapon, crowded areas. These figures are for an hour of solid farming, from your first kill until 60 minutes later. Farming 25 000 SP at 250 SP/hour will not take 100 hours, but a lot longer!! you have to delevel, repair equipment, connect to the game, get to the stronghold and so on.
No gt or monkey, 2 shot kills and grabbing drops : 180-200 SP/hour (+ 80 000~100 00 gold)
No gt (with or without monkey), 2 shot kills, no grabbing : 250 SP/hour
No gt, 1 shot kills, no grabbing : 320-360 SP/hour
gt + monkey, 2 shot kills : 500-600 SP/hour
With a gold ticket and a monkey, and I really do recommend this combo if you are going to farm seriously, I was getting 3 000 SP per day, and up to 500k gold. It is possible to make even more if you pickup and sell equipment, but your inventory will fill up very fast, meaning you have to go back to Jangan more often.
If you farm bandit archers for three hours a day, expect a SoX drop about every two or three days, so keep your eyes out for those special treasure boxes!
VII. A few tips
¤ If you plan to maximise your efficiency go for a gt and a monkey. Logical but ever so true.
¤ Don't bother about picking up equipment that the bandit archers drop except if you REALLY need the money. Instead go for the alchemy items and tablets as they are stackable, sell for a lot more to the NPC (the tablets you don't need that is) what more elements are worth a lot of money. Bandit archers drop Broken Arrows that contain Wind II (2k each on Alps) so consider each alchemy items as being worth at least 1k.
¤ Learn to deal with KS. Some people are retards, others bot - you have to learn to live with it, however frustrating it may be. If you want to p*ss them of you then here is a little trick. Let us presume that you have a Sos +X bow that does at least 200 damage with imbue. It normally takes you 2 shots to score the kill - try and hit the archers only once before moving on as fast as possible to the next one. The KSer will only finish them, thus getting a lot less SP/EXP, if your weapon is good enough, you will be getting only a little less SP.
¤ Party, party, party. Exp distribution, item distribution - use the party match window (by pressing "p", "party match", and try and join any party with x members out of 4. You get a serious SP bonus if you do this. Over time those extra point DO build up - trust me.
¤ Find something to do while you are farming - a radio show, music, whatever... anything to keep you going. But just keep one thing in mind : the more efficient you are the faster it will be over, you need to be able to keep your mind on targeting mobs as fast as possible.
¤ Tape down you ctrl key, you won't have to double click to attack. If you have a decent keyboard, create a macro that only sends the "key pressed" signal. Example : launch the record function, press Ctrl, hold down, stop the record function, release Ctrl. Better in the long run because while Ctrl is pressed you cannot use your inventory.
WARNING : while talking to an NPC left clicking on an object with Ctrl pushed down sells the item without confirmation. Don't get caught.
VIII. Lexicon
Experience points : points that you must accumulate to get to the next level. It is the green bar. (1)
Skill experience points : you need 400 skill experience points to get 1 SP. The yellow bar fills up every 400 points (2)
Skill points : or SP. When you develop masteries, you pay a price in SP. The higher the level, the more SP you have to spend a single mastery. (3)
Alchemy Items : they are medium grey bags that monsters drop. They can be disassembled in order to get elements.
SoX : Seal of Star, Seal of Moon and Seal of Sun. They are legendary weapons that are a lot stronger than normal ones. You can tell that the weapon is SoX from the pink aura around it when it is equipped. The best is Seal of Sun.
KS : kill steal or kill stealing. When a character deliberately shoots the monsters you are attacking or going to attack.
Mana and HP points : Mana is the blue bar, you use mana to use a spell or a skill. HP, or health points are your life points, when they run out you die.
Imbue : it is the basic magical skill. It covers your weapon with the magical skill you use and deals extra magical damage when you hit something.
NPC : Computer controlled character.

I
GENERAL INFORMATION
In Silkroad, as in most games, you rely on weapons to survive and hunt monsters down. In this guide, I will go through the weapons that Blackmith Jangun from Jangan sells, and give information about each, including price, damage, durability, and more. Please note, I will only provide information about the exact weapons sold by Jangun, the Jangan Blacksmith, and not provide anything about the monster-dropped versions of those items, as those have different strengths.
----------------
Durability
----------------
In Silkroad, as you fight, your weapon actually becomes less durable. It does less damage when the durability drops. If the durability drops to Zero, your weapon is considered broken and cannot be used in any way anymore.
To restore a weapon to full durability, talk to a blacksmith or armorer and click the repair button on the bottom of the screen.
==============================================================================================================================================
II
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WEAPONS
There are many differences between the weapons and weapon types.
The main difference is how many hands they require.
Blades and swords require just one hand to use, allowing you to equip a shield.
Spears, Glavies, and a Bow/Arrow combination, however, all require two hands, which does not allow for you to hold a shield.
Another difference is how far you can hit someone from with each. This game uses the Metric system, so I will be using meters only, and not feet or inches.
-------------------------------------------
How far away can you attack from with each?
-------------------------------------------
One handed weapons.......... 0.6 Meters
Two handed weapons.......... 1.8 Meters
Bow and Arrow combo...........18 Meters
Note: You also have to buy arrows from Jangun (Or any other NPC that deals with weapons). He sells arrows for 2 gold coins each. Also, monsters randomly drop arrows for you to take. Also, do NOT buy arrows from players. Most players sell arrows for more money than any of the NPCs, so don’t buy from them. You will lose a lot of money in the long run.
If your character is out of the field of range, he/she will automatically move as close as needed to attack.
At the beginning of the game, you get to pick one of the Level One weapons to start with, if you get bored of it, you can buy another one and sell the old one, or keep it if you wish to.
Now, there are lots of things that you can have after a weapon's name. Here are the ones I can think of right now.
(+1)
(+2)
(+3)
Etc...
All this simply means is that someone has used an elixir on the weapon and powered it up slightly. For every + added to the weapon, the attack and defense go up by about 5-10 points, and add greatly to the value of the weapon.
Seal of Sun (Strongest)
Seal of Moon
Seal of Star
If a weapon has any of these three seals, it gets a massive boost in Attack, Durability, and value.
A typical Seal weapon sells for over 100,000! The only place to get these (other than buying them) is by attacking NPC Thieves. A good way to attract Thieves is (When you hit LVL 20) become a merchant and just stand outside of the city. Wearing the Merchant Job item lets Thieves spawn by you.
Something else you may want to know is that if you are wearing the merchant job item, any Non-NPC thief can attack you without being punished for a PK, so try to stand near a place with a lot of people, so someone can revive you.
==============================================================================================================================================
III
WHERE TO BUY
All the weapons in this guide are bought from the Blacksmith Jangun, found in the city of Jangan. In future guides, I will include more items from different cities.
==============================================================================================================================================

===========How to become a Thief
1. You must be at least level 20.
2. In Jangan, go to Barrow St., and then into one of the alleyways. Inside that alley, you'll find a girl. Talk to her, and she'll take you to Thief Village for 2000 gold.
3. Once you're in Thief Village, talk to the Thief Guild Master, which whom you buy your Thief outfit from. Buy the outfit for your gender.
4. Equip it in the bottom-right hand slot in your inventory, where you where capes and Santa stuff.
5. You are now a Thief.
The Life of a Thief
The life of a Thief is pretty hard. You must steal from Traders and kill them, and most of all kill Hunters.
Since Thieves are most noticable, people are going to see that you're a Thief right away, and will try to kill you.
By stealing from Traders, you would get their loot, and then go back to Thief Village to re-sell it, therefore gaining profit.
Now, the hard part is trying to kill Traders that are doing a 2-star or higher trade run. Most of the time, the Trader would be a pretty high level, or at least have a good Hunter protecting them. Also, to make it even more difficult, the Thief Village returning scroll takes about an hour :|
But, if you're an experienced and high level Thief, it can be quite rewardable.
The thing that bothers most people, however, is that if you kill lots of Traders/Hunters, you're going to get a 'Wanted' sign. Once you have this sign, Traders/Hunters will be able to kill you at any time, whether or not you are wearing your Thief outfit; so watch out for that.
Other Advice
The best way to take down a Trader, is to have a Thief party that'll help you.
Preferred parties include these builds:
1 Ice/Lightning/Pacheon Thief
2 Lightning/Heuksal Thief
3 Fire/Lightning/Bicheon Thief
And ANY of these theives should have ressurect. In case someone does...
Also, remember to bring at least 5 Camels/Horses, to take the Trader's loot. Bring TONS of HP/MP/pills, in case the Trader has a Hunter protecting them.
Generally, it's much easier for a Thief to figure out what level a Hunter/Trader is, than vice versa, so if you spot one, and you have a good idea you can kill them, go right ahead.
Important:
Do NOT, and I mean, DO NOT! start Thieving at level 20. Most inexperienced players start Thieving right away once they hit level 20. This is a must-not, if you want to survive and get at least a decent loot.
Preferrably, you should start at level 30+.
Good spots for Thieving is outside of Donwhang, East/West Ferry, or the bridges.
So, if you enjoy a life of stealing from the rich and killing Hunters, the Theif life is yours.
==============How to become a Hunter
1. First, you must be at least level 20 to become a Hunter.
2. Go to Jangan or Donwhang and buy a Hunter outfit from the Hunter Guild NPC.
3. Once you have the job outfit, equip it in your bottom right corner of your Inventory, where you equip Capes and Santa stuff.
4. You're now a Hunter.
The life of a Hunter
As a Hunter, it is your job to protect Traders and defend the justice system by killing Thieves, wanted or not.
When you protect Traders in a trade run, you will have to kill monsters, especially Thieves, that attack the Trader or his camel/horse. These should normally be easy if you're around the Trader's level.
When protecting a Trader in a 2-star or higher trade run, it's best suggested if you party with 2 or more other Hunters, that're at least level 35+. This is necessary if you want your Trader to survive, because of other human player Thieves attacking the Trader.
Generally, Hunters get paid. On average, it's 10% of the Traders' profit. If the Trader doens't pay you, tough luck, not much you can do about that :|
A tip in not getting scammed by a Trader is to ask for him to pay you first before you go with him on his trade route.
Other Advice
Normally, you should NOT wear your Hunter job while training or doing anything besides protecting a Trader/killing Thieves. The reason for this is because at any time, an unsuspecting Thief can come up to you and kill you without you even knowing.
So, if all the above interests you, and you have enjoy a life of defending innocent players, the Hunter is the job for you.
==============how to trade
This is not a comprehensive guide, this is not a particularly impressive guide, it's just the information you need to get yourself immersed into trading with much less frustration than the first of us to try experienced.
Guide
-------
Step 1. Buy the job item from the merchant guild member near the specialty store in Chan'an for 10k.
Step 2. Equip it in your event item slot. (NOTE, once removed, you cannot equip another job item for 10 minutes.)
Step 3. Go to the stables, buy a transport (probably best to start with the horse, as it is faster and less likely to get you a higher difficulty ranking because it has less slots.)
Step 4. From the same NPC that sells the transport, buy yourself some "potions" (these are actually animal potions that will heal your creature). I recommend buying 5 to 10, more if you're paranoid and have the money to burn.
Step 5. Go back to the specialty store and summon your transport creature, then talk to the goods dealer. Buy /white silks/, and only white silks. See that trade difficulty rating beneath the slots? A character will come up in it for each rating of difficulty the amount of goods you're purchasing constitute. If your difficulty rating exceeds one, player thieves can freely attack you, and stronger thief mobs will spawn to attack you. If your difficulty rating does not exceed one, /you are invulnerable to attack by all players/. Filling a horse, which has 9 slots, with 10 white silks in each slot, will not exceed 1 difficulty rating. This would cost about ~12k. If you can afford that much, do so, if you can't, get less.
Step 6. If you're really not confident in yourself, get a friend, preferably a hunter, but definitely someone level 20 or over, to party with you. Pay them if you must, or promise them returns upon success. Unless you massacred your character build, or have extreme connectivity issues, you honestly don't need an escort to pull this off.
Step 7. Exit Chan'an, with or without an escort, through the west gate. At this point, you're probably okay to mount your transport, but you're going to have to get off of it very soon.
Step 8. Thieves will spawn near you and/or your transport and attempt to attack you once you've left the city. If you've kept your difficulty rating from exceeding 1, as you most definitely should if this is your first attempt at trading, they will usually be white mobs, light blue mobs, or occasionally orange mobs, but they should never be particularly challenging (but they do use elemental imbues, so it's a good idea to bring universal pills as well as health and mana potions). If you are mounted, dismount, and kill them. They are like any other mob, except they're intent on killing your transport.
Step 9. Make your way west past the exorcist's house (preferably unmounted). Monster notes:
Yeohas - Aggressive, but weak, you can ignore them, but if they're particularly annoying, give them death.
Young Tigers - These /do not/ aggro, so do not waste your time attacking them.
Step 10. Approach, and turn north at Hohyeosl Mountain, towards Chinese Eastern Ferry. Monster notes:
Tigers - Aggressive, I prefer to kill them, but I also have a grudge against them from the lower levels so. smile.gif
Black Tigers - Aggressive, kill them.
White Tigers - Aggressive, kill them.
