Does/did anyone watch it?

I was thinking of watching all of the episodes again but i'm kinda lost, when googling for a stream i saw that there was Dragonball AND Dragonball Z. Knowing from my youth, Dragonball Z is the one i've seen and followed but whats Dragonball? I've looked into the first ep and a random ep around 100 and its not DBZ for sure. When was Dragonball released? Any info appreciated.

dragonball came first, then dragonball z, then dragonball GT.

the dragonball just tells the childhood story of the main protagonist, Goku...and it's pretty short.

dragonball z is the longest one? and the best imo.

OK Dragonball is the saga of Kid Goku all the way up until he marries Chi-Chi. This is the original and the best one no matter what anyone tells you. It was this saga that inspired so much of the current anime and manga only they all got it wrong and we end end up with shite like Naruto.

Basically this is Kid Goku as he first searches for the dragonballs first meets alot of the characters, first enters the tournaments, first meets King Piccolo etc. Its lighthearted but very exciting and creative it features fights that can be as violent as the fights in DBZ but because its done in a way that you haven't seen 8 trillion X it manages to keep you captivated.

DBZ is what happens when Corporations force Mangaka into overtime. It contains most of what Americans consider to be Dragonball and thats why we have 12-15 year olds running around pretending to be ninjas because somewhere along the way it all got f*cked up.

Basically its everything that takes place after Goko marries Chi-Chi and for a time it was good. It contains the Raditz Saga(good), the Saiyan Saga(good), the Freiza Saga(good but pushing it), The Android Saga( -_- not cool), The Cell Saga( Good...ish), and lastly the Majin Buu saga (seriously WTH WTF I stopped watching)

The Japanese make no distinction Between DBZ and DB it was done for international audiences for whatever reason. BTW skip GT unless you want to sit through Hours of some guy is is NOT akira Toryiama living out his fantasy by destroying everything Toryiama did and somehow rebuilding it into a shittier version. Im not kidding if you watch GT you will feel like ripping your eyes out and killing the family pet as you run through streets naked screaming "HOW COULD IT ALL GO SO WRONG!!!!!!"

i am watching all episodes again now on DVD.

Dragonball is the 1st part. It's mainly about the dragonballs and about Goku's youth.

Dragonball Z is the 2nd part and it's mainly about the sayans and their true powers. (super sayan 1/2/3)

Dragonball GT is the last part and this part kinda ends the whole serie, you see Goku reaching his final and strongest stage, you see them defeat their most powerfull enemy and everything is a happy ending. Although i think they totally farked up Dragonball GT when they made Goku tiny again. I mean wtf? It does not add anything to the story or something, but i think they wanted it to look the same as Dragonball.

I really hope they'll continu the story some day, but it's not likely, cuz Goku and the Z Warriors die and they can't use the dragonballs anymore

But I'm waiting for DBZ RPG game and for the real life action movie

hey me too! i started bout 2 weeks ago, im at episode 70 right now (of dbz), im gonna watch the movies and dragonball too afterwards

I've got Dragonball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT on DVD. Though I'm not a big fan of GT for the simple fact Akira had to mess with the storyline himself instead of just letting people do their jobs, and it all went wrong.
Sooo looking forward to see the movie <3

Dragonball series, Sol Bianca, Saint Seiya and Captainm Tsubasa (the old one) are the only animes I used to watch and I grew up watching them, nothing I'm ashamed of!

Akira didn't write GT at all. He basically gave them a starting point for the first beginning of the First saga hence why it tries to act like DragonBall so much and after that all he did was design the villains. So yeah, don't blame Toriyama because Toei didn't want to let the dragonball franchise die.

Well yes DB was way before DBZ.

but form some reason it has not been shown in the US...instead DBZ was shown and then
DB-GT (episode 10 onwards)lol yea i know they left out the first 10 episodes when
show DB-GT in the US, its stupid.

DB is good but is shorter then even DB-GT. and covers a MUCH shorter time span

Well it did die thanks to that weirdass idea they came up with, I thought Akira wrote each new character storylines and Toei just provided everything else

They showed DB in the US, later they showed every GT episode [that didn't diminish the gayness of GT]. DB was pwnage though.

I saw DBZ before Dragonball, but I still enjoyed them both. I honestly couldn't bring my self to watch GT.

I couldn't have said it better, DB was the best, and i enjoyed a bit of the saiyan saga. After that, it was too much.

i liked the Buu sage...good beginning, dragged on a bit but loved it when Goku and
Vegeta fused into Vegito, thats was unreal how cool it was and how they just farked
over Buu.
