point is dollar is going down and national debt, both federal and public, is increasing drastically. and mr. bush has done nothing to slow it down, in fact quite the contrary because of the war.

He's better doing nothing than having Obama come and screw us off even more. U.S. can get out of Bush's plan, or lack of one, but not Obama's 'wealth' redistribution plan that will push unemployment through the roof.

eh u have a point i guess, but we dont know yet how Obama would at if he were elected. we cant judge him for something he hasn't done, even if he stated he would. We can only judge mr. bush right now and/or past presidents.
standard currency. which sounds crazy to many, agreed, but the guy makes valid points on why.

best example is how amazingly the american economy developed as the country went to war with the axis in WWII.

Bush's war can't be justified at all, we were not in a recession in 2003. And the war is a waste, no WMDs, no terrorists, no osama, just a bunch of wasted money and lives. Osama is in afghanistan, which is where we should have focused and concentrated. But no...bush just had to be a twat

I'm not interested in round two of this debate, but let's not get carried away with this rant.

Every country has some debt...

and just because they don't show what they are doing there doesn't mean they aren't doing something. Still dangerous over there.

bow, ur right about that, but in th past 2-3 centuries, EVERY war causes a recession after a while and the currency goes down. economy goes to a peak then falls down and then the higher and higher inflation. Its one of the inevitable things of war i guess.
And I agree, we shouldnt get carried away in the thread...

Debt is natural and required in a world sized economy. It's what keeps money dynamic, flowing, and shooting from country to country. Without debt the economy would be stagnate.

National debt isn't the same as personal debt. It's not like the Chinese repo men are going to come to the US and take all your light fixtures.

Much of the debt the government owes to "itself". People purchase bonds, or get get government aid, and it goes into the debt. When a bond is redeemed, the gov will give out more money than was origonally paid for (the point of the bond) and in order to make up for that loss, another bond is sold. Hence part of our growing debt. Yes, we owe lots of money to other countries, and for some reason we brilliantly forgave and forgot european countries that owed us after WWII and WWI.

well we did put all the blame on Germany...eventhough we gave loans to them also when we were neutral.
anyways, i totally forgot about the whole concept of war bonds, i didn't even think that they were still being used today...
