So I am starting to play again (left xian for venus), I already have started a character of course. I made a euro warlock, and got him to 20 but my old playing ways are coming back. I think I want to continue to play a chinese character, because when I started (beta) of course that was the only type of character.

Euro is a nice change, but once you have played chinese for so long it is hard to leave. Now I have ALWAYS played a blader and my only alternative character was a S/S Nuker. I am wondering, in today's SRO community is a blader even worth the time? Back when I used to play, ice blader was the way to go. Is it even worth making an ice blader today? or even a fire blader? or a blader at all?

or should I stick with the euro, and or go with the chinese s/s nuker.

Blades pay off only at 73+, and even then, it's debatable if a blader is worth it or not. Chinese pure INT S/S is a very powerful build, but euros are great too.

It's all about your playing style in the end. If you like partying, choose the euro. If you like being strong on your own, go chinese :)

I play WoW as well, so if I want to group up I typically play WoW. Thats why I liked sro from beta, because of the independence. So I am practically set on chinese, I guess I am just trying to figure out if a blader is worth it in modern day SRO. Considering I have always played a blader.

I prefer chinese as well and  bladers. I've got a predominantly chinese guild on Venus if you are looking for one.

Blader is VERY worth it, my level 75 friend can tank 80s and kill some of the ints

Europes CAN solo too, there just not as good at it as chinese are.
But if you're curious about a europe char you can solo.

Oh I know I can solo, even if it is slower than leveling in a party as a euro I would rather solo. When I grind, I like to be by myself but talk to guild or friends in chat. Like I said, one of the things that attracted me to sro was the independence.

I guess, I am just narrowing it down to:
1) Do I want to go back to my old ways and play a blader
2) Venture back into my alt style of playing and start a pure int s/s

If you've set your eyes on Chinese, I myself would do a bow or blade character.
Bow I think is awesome, if you've never played it before, I'd highly recommend doing it. But if you like bladers, I think they're good too, they're one of my favorites.
S/S however is also really good, but at the heart of it all, I know the reason you liked blades was the never dying factor, and S/S just doesn't have that, even with snowshield. You might not be able to cast it in time, or it runs out, or it just plain isn't enough.

Nobody can say for sure, but I think ultimately bladers are going to be the best, they're sort of like 1h warlocks (that's a good thing, at least I think so) but they can tank more.

Soooo... My advice is try out a blader, if you don't mind the grinding.

Don't be an ice blader however, you want to be a fire blader. And either use a force sub, or lightning sub. Some people say force is gonna be totally awesome, and maybe it will be... It'll be slowwww though, plus in the end, the new blade skills give enough status effects as it is, wouldn't you say? Getting force just for stun doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
So yeah, I'd say do a fire blader :)

Good luck.

I think it depends on whether you'll get discouraged with the slow leveling of the blader.

As long as Venus provides a good community I think I will be fine. I am a casual player, and one who doesn't rush to the level cap. I like to enjoy the game for what it is.

Rainigul, I appreciate your post in all honesty. I was thinking about bow, simply because it is something that I have never tried before. Just wasn't too sure on the builds, I guess it is time to investigate the guide section.

I think the most fun build as a chinese is a Pure str Dual Blade/Glavie :)
Heuksal 80 / Bitcheon 80 / Fire 80 / Light 60..

IT owns, and its fun :)

Well.. I personally believe that making a blader would be useless, I have a euro and a chinese and have never lost a 1v1 to either. Mind you, on my chinese it's usually just a potwar.. and with my euro I win.

I think your best bet would be a pure int s/s nuker if you like to be NDP.

On the other hand.. at the 90 cap bladers get a new skill that decreases defense and increases phy. attack (I believe?).. so they may yet own once again

Bladers on a euro dominted server are good in 1v1...KD KD KD KD KD dead euro, lol.
S/S INT is very strong as well

It goes as such: Chinese; slower lvling but you solo so you use PT time faster
Euro: Faster lvling, worse in 1v1 and harder to use PT time due to party dependence (for the most part, however rogues/wiz/warlock solo well)

99% grind?

Although most Euros wont acknowledge this, the fact is, euros win 8/10 in 1v1 vs most chinese.

S/S ONLY works because of 50% snow shield. So prepare to get hit for 3x your hp by invisible players very often.

I say go s/s it's really fun being a nuker.. That everytime you have to watch your hp you might die.. But all in all chinese for me is better, I don't like the idea of teamwork in grinding. Maybe in wars but not grinding.

In the end it all sums up to what you really want and how you play the build..

I had no problem going euro..And yes, I did play chinese for a long time =p

I would try out int s/s if I were you..You always played blader, so why not try the same skills but with higher dmg ;D (less tanking tho)

i think Pure int s/s is a good build, and so is pure str bow.
at my old pure int S/S (lvl 72) i could easely "tank" any blader up untill like lvl 75, it only became hard when i had bleed + diversion (but then again that aint 2 weird when your enemy is higher lol)
and when you really need it, anti phy can save your life, lets you live for 15 seconds againt even full sun bladers lol.
Bowers are just nice imo because of the range (i NEED range) and they do good damage, also maybe they cant tank like bladers can, only when you have lvl 73 skils you can knockback basicly anyone who gets close to killing you.
and you have a lucky stun once in a while with amazing crits :P

from euro side i think warlock/warrior is nice, they basicly own anything.
they debuff you as a warlock, switch to 2hand warrior, put on those buffs that basicly make him immortal for 45 seconds, and own the crap out of you, but thats not 2 good when you want to take on to much ppl at the time imo =[

in the end its up to you :P whatever you think would be most fun playing.

Why Fire Blader is the way to go.

Blader:
Blader Debuffs:

1]Bleed 2 - 3 times (36%[80 cap]-75%[120 cap]): DoT and decrease physical/magical def
2]Impotent 1 time(20%[80 cap+]): decrease physical and magical atk
3]Division 1 time (20%[80 cap+]): decrease magical and physical def
4]Dull 1 time (20%[100 cap+]): Movement speed and atk speed cut in half
5]Fear 1 time (20%[100 cap+]): Prevents the enemy from atking you
6]Stun 1 time (20%[100 cap+]): Enemy Can't move or atk

How long they last.
1]30 seconds.
2]30 seconds.
3]30 seconds.
4]20 seconds.
5]10 seconds.
6]5 seconds.

Now bladers will be even more feared.

*Note: Everyone won't have a cleric, some will; most won't
Boost:
Critical 5 increase (90 cap) - Critical 15 increase (120 cap)

Buffs:
80 cap:
Continuous Hours 120 seconds
Shield physical defense 66% reduce
Phy. atk power 107 increase

Continuous hours 15 seconds
Blocking ratio 34% Increase.

Continuous Hours 14 seconds
Phy DEF power 915 inc

100 cap:
Continuous hours 120 seconds
Shield Physical defense 83% Reduce
Phy. Atk power 133 Increase.

Continuous hours 15 seconds
Phy DEF power 1680 increase

Continuous hours 15 seconds
BR 41% Increase

Passives:

BR 9% Increase at 80 cap.
80% dmg Increase at 80 cap.

Fire:
Strongest Imbue
Potential Immunity when There is no Cleric
Physical dmg 17% Increase
Magical Defense boost
A Magical absorption shield
Detect that lurking rogue/wizard

Imagine someone at 120 cap bumping into a Fire Blader, and they don't have a cleric nearby: Absolute devastation

Blader is the Chinese Warlock. *Note I was the first to dub it so. >.>

TACTIC:
1]Lay down Debuffs
2]Activate Buffs
3]KD
4]STAB (Critical 15 increase + Debuffs = impending crit that will hurt like being stung by an African honeybee) - GAME OVER -

And its just shield def lost, so not that big of a trade off.

Bowers are just as annoying at higher caps though >.<
they can knock you back till you just think, fok it ill just run :P
but yea, bladers will do pretty good against pure int's specialy.

only the phy def decreases so, they get extra atack and nukes will still hit the same on them.

Also from what i heard from testers using the 90 cap skills, the shield reduce skill is not absolute 133 phys attack increase. From what i heard i has to do with the defences of the shield, and does a lot more. The person i heard it from said that a blader with a sun +5 shield did 5K more damage with his KD's, so i think 90 cap bladers will be very deadly. If it is THAT much better i might finish playing my 78 blader on greece (even tho the server sux)
