Crap idea.
Why cant they get protection so that nothing is able to inject sro_client.exe and connect successfully, Punkbusters? Maybe a REAL GameGuard that works? Develop own protection? -_-

or even a Button in the Actions menu "Report Botter" and GM's check it out

Lazy joymax

What's this about injecting

And I'm sure we'll get report butting sooner or later. I mean Csro has it. Ksro. Jsro Im sure has it lol.

Injecting..as in modifying the sro_client.exe

They could just have a serverside MD5 Checksum and if it isnt the right size it will boot you off the server

They don't even need to modify the SRO client to make a bot. You just need to read and write to the data stream between the client and server. In effect, you run a parallel client... and if I'm not mistaken, you can read/write to the memory SRO_Client uses to gather some other info or perform certain actions. If I had continued down a more pure programming path and not diverted to become a database programmer, I'd probably even know how to do this crap. I just know how they do it, if not exactly the specifics of how to do it.

All this is a buncha BS tho... they can do so many things to solve the problem and they just don't even try. I mean these people aren't idiots. They aren't scratching their heads wondering how all these bots are getting away with it. It's obvious that they do not want to put forth any effort because they aren't.

BTW, I've also considered that idea of flagging bots hitting bot points back when I actually thought JMax was looking for a solution. It's a good plan. Too bad they aren't interested.

The players have a solution... bot traps. <3

I tried Rappelz before. And when I played it there was stones for bots to hit on, if you kept on hitting you get kicked. But I was noob so I tried to break the stone, I actually bought a special hammer that I thought would break the stone. Finally some other player told me it was for bots :)

We trapped the entire city of Jangan last night. That is the solution. A community sponsored gold bot killing spree. Our NPC thieves had the entire Jangan gold bot population running inline to be killed.

This is the way to go. De-level all of them back to Jangan and keep them pinned in!!

Joymax makes too much off the bots to do it them selves. If every server pulled together, we could stop them! And then we would easily know who the player bots are, and if so, choose to shun them.

Hey, if I knew that I could stay logged in afk all day without getting DC'd, AND know that hunters and traders would leave me alone in thief suit, I'd set up a transport outside of Jangan and let the bot trap run while I go to work. Maybe have some clerics come by and heal me now and then while they PVP so my pots don't run out.

Sadly, my client locks up sometimes, and I do DC randomly. :(

Ah so the truth finally comes to light! The client DCs users "at random" so the bots (who aren't using sro_client.exe) have a chance to run freeeeeee!

Jmax, you're magnificent!

They wouldnt implement this in to sro cuz joymax are bot supporters, if joymax were not bot supporters they would of got rid of bots along time ago.

Yes and no. It may make a small dent in the bot companies' revenues and it's probably the only active way to interfere with their grinding, however it should not be the players' duty to do JM's work, while still paying them.
The community is just too weak as a whole to make players' efforts worthwile in the long run anyway.
And unfortunately as someone else said, JM doesn't have the will to take serious steps, everyone should be pretty clear about that one by now.
I mean, an icon popping in game every hour, asking you enter an image code within 15 minutes (or any of the suggestions filling up their fora for that matter), is that hard?
