Hm... when I was playing a couple days ago, I noticed bots teleported back to town when they can't pick items and gold up.

Maybe JoyMax should take advantage of this. Spawn 1 Gold at random locations where no-one can pick it up. Maybe its fenced inside a box or something, gold bots will try to go after it and when they can't pick it up, they will teleport back to town and then come back to that exact location. Hence doing it over and over again.

The only problem is legit players with pets/monkey that picks gold for them will try to pick that gold up too. This would stop the pets to pick actual items as they will be trying to pick that gold up. So JM can try encode it so that the pets will not pick those spawned golds.

If they did do this, I think that the bot makers would make the bot be able to pick up a set amount of gold+

Great idea, but JM hardly cares.

If all the legit players boycotted SRO for a while... no one would want P-LvL or Gold, and bots might say, "Let's get out of here, there's no profit."

Well it does not have to be exactly 1 Gold. It can be any amount of gold. Besides, its not like anyone will be able to pick it up, so there's not really an issue on what the amount is. It's just so that the gold will lure the bot and try to pick it up and instead, teleport to town because they can't pick it up. Then they might even be disconnected from the server when they teleport.

1- Joymax fixed some glitchs people were using to get rid of bots...
2- So he wont get ways to get rid of them
3- Bot's creators would find a solution like "only pick gold if it's over X ammount" or toggle on the bot not to pick up gold...

Sorry... But the truth is: iSRO will only get free from bots when Joymax decides to actually work on it...

like me and another person said...
JM can just set the gold to 1gold - 10000gold.. so it is random.. no mob drops over 10k gold if they do then they can just set it to 1mill

It would be better if the gold dropped isn't from 1-10000 gold, but the ammount of gold that the mobs there drop, otherwise the bots can do like only pick up from 100-400 gold (for example), and if that happens, then 97/100 times, the bot wouldn't fall for the trick.

But if they have the gold spawned be from 100-400 gold, then there's a 100% chance of the bot falling for it, instead of a 3% chance.

A gold bot would not resist on picking anything, not even 1 gold. That's the only reason why they exist in the first place. A single gold to them is worth everything.

But ye, they should definitely do this.

Wouldnt the programmers be able to make the bots instead of returning to town after not being able to pick up gold, but after a set time ( 5 seconds ) leave the item and keep grinding? Or just set it so that the bots only pick up their loot that drops from the mob they just killed and just leave other peoples gold alone?

Hmm, I onced went into bot central (ishades/hashades) and dropped 1 gold, then alot of botters followed me, so I just kept on dropping gold and lured them outta their botting zone :D
Most used return scrolls, some were just stuck there.

What kind of gold bot would do that? Besides, that won't work that way. Setting a timer.... not gonna work well, trust me. It's harder than it sounds. But it can, however, pick their own items but then again, gold bots will try to get as much gold as possible. If they do that, they are going to earn less gold in a set amount of time.

See now i thought you would of picked up on what i said, but i guess you didn't.

Now what do you think will happen if they pick up less gold per hour? Well they "might" depending upon their business structure, just put more gold bots on the server to get their gold levels per hour to the same capacity they once were. By doing so your idea than creates more gold bots and actually makes your idea become redundant and only makes the problem worse as opposed to making it better

I really thought you would of realized this before you even made the topic or at best read my post but i guess you didn't.

Hm... you got a good point there. how hard is it to get rid of bots? Other MMOs out there has no problems :(

Theres two ways to ensure that the problems get solved.

The first is that the people who buy gold and bot, simply stop. To put it blankly, if the community comes to some sort of agreement to stop botting and stop buying gold, the problems will disappear. If people dont buy gold the gold bots wont exist, they only exist on a supply and demand basis. If player bots dont bot, player bots wont exist ( duh )

The other is constant GM interaction. Joymax has bot banns once in a while to try and keep the legits happy, but the bots simply get recreated as we can see. The only way to stop it is to have constant bannings, every day or so, maybe every couple of days ( that are unannounced btw ) that will stop bots from getting back to the level they are at now. After a while it wont be worth their time to keep creating them and they will eventually die out.

Instead of putting in different tricks to get gold bots stuck, they really need to just do server-side checks for "suspicious bot-like behavior." The SRO databases should be able to tell when a character stops, in succession, at each of the bot "checkpoints." If a character stops at too many of those (say 3) then flag the character as "suspicious" on the database end. Players won't see the flag, but GMs will, and they can investigate/ban appropriately.

Maybe make it so if there are 10 or more flags, then just ban.

That'll give the legit players who somehow managed to hit those spots a chance to not get banned.

If the bots get reprogrammed to take a different route, the servers can automatically adjust. Instead of watching what players run over x:500 y:495 (example), the software can watch what characters run over the "same exact coordinates the last 20 players did."

About a year ago , i restarted a char,
( the previous one "got bugged " no kidding , and was un-able to buy silk )
I seen the bot-broplem was only worse than before and i suggested your idea through the official forum and bug report...

Sadly the monkey is client sided, so if the pet doesn't pickup the item, it can be detected by the bot and the bot ignore the money in that area too.
Also when an item fall on ground, it has the owner ID with it, so bot would just pickup there own item at the worst....

Your aren't really bringing something that is useful enough for Joymax to even consider adding it. Also packet wize, Joymax could easily make a small modification to detect clientless bot but they aren't doing it.

It not the knowledge missing at this point.

it might work.. but the downside is, goldbots keep coming back to towns. when i teleport back to hotan, it laggs as hell. it takes me about two minutes to fully load sometimes i even get disconnected. :x so since goldbots keep spawning back to town, they add to the massive lag we experience or at least for me :banghead:

At a worst case, the bot programmer will set pick gold only if it's belong to the bots...
That's what happened when u try to pick someone else item, there is a message popup.
MY gold
YOUR gold
FREE gold
have different packet ID, although they are the same gold 8)
