Very-off Topic: I swear my dad could be doing something better than construction because he's learned an extremely difficult 3D imaging program in 2 weeks. Now he knows absolutely everything about it and uses it with some 250K USD equipment for his work

Dads need encouragement too, find a way to tell him you're proud of him. Daddy day is coming soon...
(maybe even make him a siggy? just an idear, call him BlackDragon5? :P )
Print the siggy vertical on a tie if you are a traditionalist... heheheh

I guess my best option would be the "yes I can play it in front of their faces" one. Although, I'd like to see my parents try to stop me from playing a game, on my own computer, on my own network, inside my own house.

Replace "parents" with "wife" and everything changes!
