Hi, guys. I had a quick question.

I just got an iTouch from a friend. However, when I plug it in (and even when you view the details of the iTouch under "About"), it still says my friend's name.

Is there anyway to change this without wiping all the songs off of the iPod? And if I can't, is there a way to change the owner if I wipe everything clean?

All I got was the Touch. No CD, no nothing else. Just the Touch.

Thanks for your help!

You could copy music from the itouch with a program to computer. Then wipe the itouch. Then put your name and music on it. This is a long method so there might be better ones.
Just my input :)

I think the Touch use's the Itune like the other ipod (Not an Itouch owner)

Well download the itune and update, when your done I think there should be an option that has to do something with reformat or something.

Good luck!

Assuming it's like the other ipods, you can browse into the directory where it stores all the songs - they have weird names like SADA.mp3. iTunes renames them but they keep their tags - if you load them into itunes again it will display the right info. Just copy + paste that folder (the songs are sorted into oddly named subfolders as well) onto your desktop. Reformat the iPod, import the backup into your library, load them onto the ipod.

I'm pretty sure you can just change it by opening it up where all the songs are held, in "Ipod_Control", there's a file in there that contains the ipod's name, if you don't wanna copy all the shit again, you can just change the name from there, I'd help you more, but I'm not on my computer with my ipod stuff on it.

I got it done. I completely reformated the iTouch. That did the trick. I'm not sophisticated enough to do everything that dom or Raini said, heh. So I just did it the idiot way.

And then after wiping ALL the songs off, I figured out that you could just double-click on the name in iTunes and change it. Hah.

Anyway, thanks for all your help, guys. I appreciate it.
