I registered, logged into the website with my newly created account, downloaded the client and updated it, started SRO, selected server Troy, put in identical username and password to what I used for the website, hit Connect, and it says my username and/or password is wrong....what?

Also, how do I change my password?

I think you can change your password with your recovery question.

To change your password, go to the web site, do not log in, and click the forgot password link right under the login box. Answer your secret question and your password will be reset and emailed to you.

Your problem may come from using spaces in your username or password, or if either one is fewer than six letters long. Unfortunately there are still some ways to create usernames and passwords which are allowed to be created, but not recognized when you try to log in.

Your telling me I can't use just letters and numbers in my username and password? My username is max length and my pass has more than 6 chars. Thats pretty bad, do I need to use all lowercase letters or something?

I am not sure about lowercase or not. I do know that you can't use the space bar, and I am pretty sure some symbols like the question mark don't work.

In my experience, you have to have all lower case letters in your pw. I have no idea about numbers though whether they are accepted or not.

Thats pretty dangerous....

Well I will test it when I change the password and they stop performing maintenance on the server.

Its not dangerous if you use a word that ismt real. Make up a sentence that doesnt make since, combine words into one long password, and voila, noone will ever "guess" your pswrd

Having alot of characters helps, but its still easier to crack then shorter passwords with random special characters letters and numbers.
