Holy shit 18.4"
If its gonna be that big then just get a desktop, or get a laptop similar to it, but smaller screen size, and just plug it into your tv

You could build a similarly specced desktop for a fraction of that price.

My GFs bro had a 4000$ dell xps, and as mentioned above the battery lasted less than 30 minutes due to the dual GPU/hd.

Why would you even think of getting a laptop for gaming? You can buy parts and build a desktop for less than that and have it be way better. The only thing laptops have over a desktop is being portable other than that nothing.

If he wants a laptop let him get a laptop. I would like a nice gaming laptop... Maybe he travels a lot? Maybe he is not always at home? Jeesh let him get what he wants.

Unless you absolutely have to be portable all the time, a "gaming" laptop is a waste of money. Get a laptop that can run your games on low settings if you really want one. Otherwise, there is no other way to go than building your own desktop.

I mean hell, for 2.5k you could get a massive monitor, Core 2 Quad or Core 2 Extreme with 9800 SLIed, RAID setup for HD and on and on.

I have a "gaming" laptop sortof, its 15.4 inches which is just perfect imo. It can run most games, I can play cod4 low-mid settings smoothly, I have yet to benchmark it. I try not to spend a lot of time playing games, i would play for like 1-2 hrs and stop for like 1-2 hours and start again lol. If you're just gonna have the laptop in your house for portability then its fine. The guys at BestBuy suggested that if im just using the laptop at home for portability, then I should just take out the battery and plug it into the wall, that way your laptop doesnt get too heated. I would play my games on a much higher graphics setting but it gets kinda hot and it makes me nervous lol

Desktop all the way. It is widescreen? 1280x800. And when you move around as much as I do, its impossible to keep a desktop with me. Had to leave my old desktop in the US. With my laptop all I need is a table, a cooling mat, my mouse and a mouse pad, one plug, and I'm set. Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83G Memory Size 3GB DDR2 Hard Disk 250GB Optical Drive DVD Super Multi Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Video Memory 128MB More than enough for me

im using vista now. I love it. But do you really think its wise to use an illegal copy of it, not that theres anything wrong with illegal stuff half the games on this laptop are illegal but it just seems like your leaving a large window for so much to go wrong with using torrented vista...
