Well im spanish and im concerned about this situation, i understand why some of you are indignated. The picture was originally released with this words: "Pekin 2008, we are ready for the challenge"
Calling the team assholes of the olimpics is just too much. BTW, Pau Gasol apologized for the misunderstandings this picture caused:

It´s a shame that some people wants to create conflicts about this situation, well, the spanish team will be booed for sure in the next competitions. IMO it was a huge mistake to take this picture.

Yeh that maybe be true..but it's widely known that Spain does this kinda thing a lot.
for example a few years back my friend went yo Spain on holiday, he was sitting on the train and some random guy kicked him in the face...I doubt id go there

The point was that they should have thought about more before doing this ad shoot. I mean did they not think that some people would be offended. But its not a huge deal because its not like they meant it to be derrogatory they just didnt think it through. So if it wasn´t meant to be racist is still ok to crucify the spanish team? This was supossed to be a sign of complicity or simpathy with the host country, people is taking this too far.
If some people think it´s racist that doesn´t mean the spanish team is racist.

Most people understand that most of it really is a joke. Once people stop making a fuss about this sort of thing, racism will die out.

I wouldn't say that saying the chinese have slanted eyes is racist - it's juvinile to point it out, but it's not racist (sorry if there are any asians here in denial about having slanted eyes). If they said something like, the chinese are poor, dirty, and too lazy too work - I would call that racist.

take something like, a protest against the low wages in some or another factory.

A protest in Holland is a strike, no work is done.

A protest in Asia is that they wear a red band around their arm and they contineu working.
