They give you sp also, although I don't know if it's a smaller amount when compared to exp..
Problem I see with it is keeping the trade.. you got NPC thieves, lets say a party giant spawns and then some player thieves decide to step in.
Maybe you could use jangan grasslands with 2-3 traders and make their spawntimes spread out so spawns are nearly constant (maybe using safezone? not exactly sure how the spawntimer works ><)
