Well i have been doing a paper and i was wonder what you guys at SRF think about discrimination
i would like to know does using words like "Cracker, the N word,Slave,Beaner" and other terms offend you?

Well to me i don't really care cause you really know who you are and what you do, and what you believe in so i just ignore it.

I call my friends the N word all the time. To us, it's a term of respect and friendship. I've never said it in a derogatory manner. Me, I'm mexican, if someone calls me a beaner, border-hopper, blah blah *insert severely overused racial slur against Mexicans here*, I honestly can say I don't care.

If normal people have to fall back upon racial slurs to get their point across, then yes. If it's said by a total idiot I won't hold him responsible for it, merely because he's only acting out of his own limited knowledge, and he just shows his own incompetence. To me what's more important is what the community around you deems as appropriate conduct or normal social interaction. Normal politeness and normal moralistic and normal social etiquette go a long way.

I have a mexi-mix friend or 2 and ive always called him a beaner/wetback and its never been used as a racist term, its all in who you say it to and what your relation is. its like the blacks who call their friends n'words, thats just as bad by comparison. its not a word that i would use against somone i didnt know. same goes with other friends callin me *****, i dont care, and i know they say it meaning now harm.

Lol I'm really racist towards Islanders. God they're annoying. They deserve all that hatred and racism everyone has towards them. I mean seriously, they have no respect whatsoever for anyone. Well, of course not all of them are so bad, 1 in 10,000 is alright. But that's really rare.

The white guy is pretty much my reaction to every racial slur.

It comes down to context really, and who it's being said about or to. We here have racist words for the Aboriginals and Asians.
