Tyler is near my home town so it was mainly to get a feel for college before I (planned) to transfer to A&M, but figured I couldn't afford it. Went to the CC in College station thinking maybe I would just wait one more year then transfer, changed my mind again. So now Im at SFA lol. You should try UTA, its pretty cheap there and the engineering school is big. The school is also closer to your home. I am trying to recruite you. JK UT Austin ftw :p I'm gonna apply there in a couple weeks and plan on going into Electrical Engineering.

Goobronicus wrote: Chem Degree
Allows you several options: Medicine (pretty much any aspect, you don't need to major in Bio. In fact most schools look at Chem as more important than Bio since Chem is HOW Bio works.), Research (independent, private, commercial), Law (patent law), Education, Technical Writing, Law "Enforcement" (forensics), FDA, Engineering (might require you to become a Chem E.) etc, etc.
So yeah, anyone who said that you are limited to what you can do with a Chem degree would be incorrect. Personally, I'm a pharmacist. goob, all the jobs you listed i think only education, medicine, and research have more job offering for chem majors on a national scale. i know in dallas fort worth area, forensic is high in demand. Even with those job options it is still limited in my option. i am only base this on knowing friends that are having a hard time getting job. For aerospace and mechanical engineering degree you can work in the automobile and aerospace industries which dont have many company to choose from. But each of the company like Ford, GM, Lockheed, Bell, Airbus, Vought, Spirit, and ect have a very large engineering program to support their products so there will always be job available (except for right now..lol). i hope i explained this correctly why i think chem majors are limited to where they can get a job.

I understand your point, but if you want to work, you should be willing to relocate. Jobs will really not exist in rural areas. That's just a harsh fact of current life. Those areas are trying to lure people to them by giving bonuses, free cars, etc etc, however if there's not want to live there or work there, then there's no reason. For instance, if a job was only available in San Antonio, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, New York, and Miami; you would have to be willing to relocate. You aren't going to be able to stay in "Insert city name that wasn't listed" if you want to do that job.
When I say willing to relocate, I mean just once. I don't think you should be expected to move every 6 mo. because corporate says so.
I get what you're saying, and I agree

So I guess people have to move around places just for a job, but away from friends and family tho... that seems like a sacrifice, kinda hard to make those decisions though...

Wasn't listed, but I'm leaning towards a Bachelor of Arts degree, concentrating on a foreign language.
Am considering going with a Teacher Licensure on top of that, but haven't really made up my mind regarding such a decision, yet.
*Edit
took a glimpse over the list again, saw it this time -.-''... "Liberal Arts"

I'll be going out to university in about a year but I have no idea what to take..I'm interested in tech/engineering/physics but I have no idea. I also took accounting and economics..my options are fairly open. My parents told me there's not much money in tech/engineering if I was to be realistic, but I really have no idea T.T

My sister's actually on campus right now. She's going into IE in the fall, maybe you'll see her? That's weird to think about... Anyway, have fun in west lafayette! It's probably the dinkiest city on earth, but you can always make your own fun, right? Oh I asked my friends what advice they would give to someone coming into west lafayette, and the general consensus was: go to the den (cheap stuff), the library, greyhouse (they have jenga!), and random stuff in the village. Also, buy yourself a 9mm, just in case of the boredom.

Pharmacy
I've always wanted to be a doctor when I was a kid, or anything related to health care. I don't really want to go through all the years for med school so I jumped ship to pharmacy. Specifically, I'm leaning more towards clinical pharmacy but I'm not absolutely sure about it yet.
I have almost all my requirements done and I'm sending my application this fall. This summer, I'm just doing volunteer work at a pharmacy setting and working on getting my Pharm Tech license, which I regretfully should have taken right after high school.
Once I get in, that's two years in pharm school and one year of rotations. If I really decide to be a clinical pharmacist, I'll have to add another 1-3 years of residence. So much for med-school-takes-a-lot-of-years...

So much for med-school-takes-a-lot-of-years... Depends what pharm schools. Some are two years + one year full of rotations (there are not a whole lot of these, however the one I am attending is one of these; no breaks though for a three year), others are three years + one full of rotations. As for residency. Look ahead early. They are not easy to get into. Depending on where you go, you'll have between (including residency) four years (min. residency = no specialization; and three year pharm school) - seven years (max residency usually is two, but you can go three I suppose). Make sure you get a Pharm D... and make sure the school is keeping up with accreditation. Also, you won't need the Pharm Tech License. As soon as you start pharmacy school you will get a Intern License (or at least I did) which will basically let you do anything a pharmacist does. For example, I never did tech, just shadowed and volunteered at a local hospital pharmacy. Now I am counseling new scripts + medication management. May I ask who you are sending your apps to? If it's personal but wouldn't mind me knowing, send em via PM. Oh, and I'm also assuming you took the PCAT. If you haven't taken it, it's not difficult at all. I went in w/o studying for it since I had studied for the DAT's already, and I got a 96th percentile. Reading, Science, Math is the level of "Calc" although I didn't even need to use Calculus to solve any of them, and a Written portion (I think that's it).

I'll be going into the Global Studies and Maritime Affairs major program at Cal Maritime this fall. Specialty state school ftw Anywho off that list I'd pick liberal arts ---> History, I love history and I was at one point considering becoming a history teacher since that's about all you can do with a major in history
